Because of our commitment to working in downtown exclusively, it’s important to us to be selective in who we work with and associate our brand with. On a personal level, we want to walk by one of our listings and be proud of how it fits into the larger scheme of the downtown neighborhood and community even if it means less brokerage volume overall. We can enable purchases or the selling of real estate in other areas as well, we will not be selective, and we can help anyone in our area.

JASON QUEEN

Jason Queen founded Monarch Property Co. and Raleigh Restoration Group, LLC to close the gap between real estate development and citizens seeking sustainable, walkable communities. Our family is comprised of passionate citizens, architects, preservationists, contractors, business owners, and other like-minded individuals who advocate for urban environments that seamlessly integrate the experiences and needs of pedestrians and cyclists.

Jason holds a Bachelor’s in entrepreneurship, a Master’s in urban planning focusing on placemaking and real estate development, and an MBA in finance and financial management. He has years of experience in commercial real estate research and analysis, beginning with his post-undergraduate work at the Downtown Raleigh Alliance. He later served as Director of Marketing and Research and broker for Kimball & Company Commercial Realtors. And prior to starting his own company, Jason was Director of Urban Issues at the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Preservation North Carolina.

Jason is an active participant in downtown Raleigh communities. At present, he serves as a city council-appointed member to Raleigh’s new downtown master plan advisory committee, a contributing member to Preservation North Carolina, a member of the Urban Land Institute-Young Leaders, and an Emerging Green Builder designated by the US Green Building Council. He is a business owner with offices in downtown Raleigh as well as a homeowner in historic Olde East Raleigh neighborhood.

MATTHEW FITZGERALD

Matthew, our newest Broker, a Greensboro native and Guilford College Alumni, has called Raleigh home for the past seven years. Matthew his wife Jessica and his two young kids are no strangers to the magic of the City of Oaks as this is where they work, play, and live.

Matthew’s background includes outfitting customers for cycling and camping excursions through REI, as well as leading community cycling classes (coming soon to Monarch!), and representing the company at local functions.

Matthew joined Monarch Property Co. in July of 2015 deepening his roots in the downtown scene. He presents a sense of calm in often hectic situations and never loses sight of the goal. A guy with an easy smile, we are sure that Matthew will exceed your expectations while helping find your new home or sell your old home in Downtown Raleigh.

JEANNE QUEEN

To say that Jeanne Queen is a busy woman would be a gross understatement. She is a mother, cook, and gathering extraordinaire with a background in biomedical photography. She is also one of the co-founders of Monarch Property Co., the current Design Director, and recently earned her broker license enabling her to take an even bigger role in the company. Without Jeanne it is likely that Monarch Property Co. would still be a dream on a page. Without further adieu, we introduce you to our matriarch Jeanne!

Jeanne has an eye for detail, and skill for bringing an idea into a beautiful reality. This artistry carries over into her work. When asked about her current position in the company Jeanne said, “I love designing spaces that feel classic and timeless. Real wood, tile and stone are always essential elements in all of our houses. I love to use whites, greys and tones of blue and sea-green. I run from beige walls!” Take a look at any of Monarch’s renovations, and you will see Jeanne’s vision. Her philosophy is, “If you are going to do something, do it right the first time.”

When asked what is special about Downtown Raleigh, Jeanne replied, “Diversity, walk ability and a small town city feel.” She went on to add,” Unfortunately, many of our great historical landmarks have been destroyed. It is extremely important to me that we maintain the historical character that remains.” We believe that this statement gives great insight into her passion for preservation, and have zero doubt that she will persevere in the betterment of our city.

If you see Jeanne around town we encourage you to say hi! You might find her zooming across downtown in the mornings walking her son to preschool, at Joule for a cup of coffee, at Videri for a meeting, sneaking a quick lunch with her husband at CC16 or late night after the show at Mecca. CECILIA ZUVIC

Deeply rooted in our Monarch tribe, Cecilia has been a long-time family friend, and even had her wedding officiated by Monarch broker Matthew Fitzgerald. When asked about her passions, Cecilia quickly replied, “The three F’s - family, friends, and food.” We think that downtown Raleigh has a lot of folks that share this sentiment, as is obvious by the direction that the city’s growth is taking. Cecilia is excited about the growth, or more specifically being a part of it’s “revival”. Of the things that make downtown Raleigh so special, she said, “We can be part of Raleigh’s revival. We can be it's revival. It is happening right in front of our eyes.”

Cecilia’s position with Monarch will be that of a Broker focused on multifamily development in and around Downtown Raleigh. She comes with an impressive background that will no doubt serve her new position well. Originally from Argentina, she has been involved in International Trade and IT consulting for 15+ years. Her main tasks have always been to put people together. To find people that would be the right fit to work with each other. She attended school in Argentina, and majored in International Trade at Universidad de Belgrano - Buenos Aires.

She is just as impressive as an outspoken and action-driven force within her downtown community. Of her involvement in the area, “While living in downtown Raleigh, I have been involved in activities to see it grow to including all different types of folks. I started to get involved with Visual Art Exchange, became part of the new Leadership Group for the new master plant at Chavis Park, and walked the neighborhood looking for support to get the new master plan approved and get funding for revitalization. Jason and Jeanne started putting their own time, money, and vision into the East Side of Downtown. They started preserving the houses that made the east side of town so charming. I have always been excited about their work. Here I am now!” This is just the kind of community involvement that Monarch Co appreciates, and we can’t wait to see Cecilia in action with our team.
