A bit of an announcement - I will be significantly downsizing the flock starting now through the end of August. I will only be keeping 15 breeders for next year, and maybe a couple others that I really like. So we are looking at around 60 birds who are going to need new homes.

A lot of these are my breeders from last year and before. I have birds from good quality bloodlines and some that are hatchery stock. Many were hatched here. I'm going to miss some of them but I think it's for the best.

The egg thieves have returned!

Edit: I'm not that upset. There were only two dozen in the fridge. God's been protecting our egg stand and this is the first one in months. I will say there have been repentant thieves! There was a guy who stole a carton of goose eggs. Two months later we found extra money in the box. Checked the camera and it was that guy!

The funniest ones (but also the most irritating!) are the regular thieves. A gardener with a trailer that blocks his license plate was regularly emptying the entire fridge at 7:15 am every Monday morning! Solved that problem by keeping the eggs inside on Mondays!

But I hope the sign will discourage further thievery. It's mostly a joke, but it shows that we are watching the cameras and that they do work (the 4x4 post is literally bristling with them lol).

Been a while since we've posted anything! The hatching season has been slower for us this year, but we're starting back up again! 7 mixed breed chicks available, cheep cheep! These are Easter Egger mixes (Legbar parents) with high chances of laying blue/green eggs.

We will be at the Farmer's Market at the Tractor Supply store in Ramona on Saturday, Aug 19th. Planning on bringing lots of chickens - Buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, Cream Legbars and Easter Eggers and others! This is a free event with lots of local farmers/gardeners selling their produce.

Hopefully the rain ⛈ won't bother us too much :) Come early to avoid showers. The Farmer's Market is from 8 am to 5 pm. See you there!

We were torn but finally decided that it's time to part with our 5 beautiful White Chinese geese. They are just finishing a molt and will be ready for the next season of laying (not laying currently). We have 1 sweet gander (male) and 4 geese (females).

They were hatched in March 2021. When laying, they produce an egg every other day :)

We also have a pool and goose egg cartons available that can go with them. The geese must stay together as a flock.

English x American line Buff Orpingtons 🧡 - Dual purpose Buff Orpingtons with increased vigor due to 2 different bloodlines. Excellent growth rates though not as large as the 100% English Buff Orpingtons.

Rhode Island Reds ❤️ - Classic RIR rooster takes his job of protecting hens seriously. Dual-purpose birds with hatchery and exhibition-type bloodlines in their genetic background.

Easter Eggers 💚 - These fellows sport some snazzy hairdos and spunky personalities. Add one to your flock to make your yard a little livelier!

All roosters are healthy, vaccinated for Marek's disease and ready for their new home. They are the perfect age to get to know you and your family.

Golden Crele Legbar rooster available (split to cream). Found out he is not homozygous for blue egg, so he needs to be re-homed. It's possible he is o/o (non-blue egg) or o/O (one copy of blue) but we didn't do genetic testing on him so neither is for certain.

Beautiful boy though and great with the hens. Not aggressive and has fathered many chicks. Pickup in Ramona (east San Diego County).
