Meet our Board of Directors!

Jesse is our At-large director! He has been a CRNA for 13 years and is currently working in Spearfish, SD for Monument Health. This is Jesse’s first term on the board of directors and he is very excited to give back to the profession! Along with his wife Ashley, Jesse is an avid outdoorsman. They love bringing their three dogs Jake (13), Scout (3), and Kai (2) on all of their many adventures!!

Meet our Board of Directors for the SDANA!!!

Shelby VanOverschelde is currently our President Elect! She works for Avera Queen of Peace in Mitchell, SD and has been a CRNA almost 3 years. Shelby has been an active SDANA member since being in anesthesia school, and her favorite aspect of serving on the board is advocating for the profession and meeting new people!

She is supported by her husband Alex and her 3 children: Leonard (8), Charles (6), and Annabelle (3). In her spare time, Shelby enjoys softball, volleyball, anything outdoors, as well as spending time with family and friends.

Natalie Johnson is currently our District 3 Director. She works for Black Hills Surgical Hospital, Rapid City, and is a Colonel in the US Army Reserves!! She has been practicing for 13.5 years and this is her first term with the board!

She is married to Bobby and they have three children: Ethan, Victoria, & Elizabeth. In her free time, she enjoys family vacations and anything outdoors!!

I have served as an army officer and leader for 26 years, providing the ability to make positive changes and support anesthesia colleagues. Meet our Board of Directors for the SDANA!!

Anna Lukens-Black is our current treasurer. She works for Monument Health Spearfish and has been a CRNA for 6 years. Anna was first involved with our PAC from 2019-2022 and has been on our Board of Directors since 2022

She is married to Jared and they have 3 Spinone Italiano dogs: Marshall (12), KC (7), Reese (3). In her spare time Anna enjoys yoga, hiking, tandem biking, and traveling! Her husband is an organic vegetable farmer so cooking is a passion as well as trying new wine!! Lastly, she enjoys playing cello in the local orchestra!

There was a great showing of nurses this week at Nurses Day at the Legislature! We were able to see two of our own in action! Making South Dakota a great place to be a CRNA!!

Fun Fact Friday: we have two AANA Fellows in South Dakota!! Don Roesler (2023) and Mark Haffey (2022)!!

Requirements to become an AANA fellow includes:
- Minimum 10 years professional experience, good standing as CRNA, and AANA membership
- Commitment to attend AANA conferences
- Outstanding achievements as a CRNA, both professionally and personally!

Applications to be an AANA Fellow are accepted each year!

Once again, had so much fun shopping for the annual SDANA community service project! We shop and provide for family’s that need a little extra help this Holiday season! Stay tuned for finished products! This year, we supported a single mom, large family, and donated money for the Reindeer Basket program out on by a Sioux Falls elementary school. Household items, food, clothes, winter wear, and presents were purchased!

Inspiring high school seniors at Brandon Valley High School to be CRNAs!!!

Big thanks to the Monument Health CRNA group!! Not only do they take great care of the Rapid City kids during anesthesia, they also promote a good night's sleep at home. Their donation will will go towards getting kids off the floor and into beds of their own.
