We are currently accepting donations for our Giant Tag Sale and Jewelry Boutique as part of our Annual Artisan Fair, taking place this year on Saturday, September 28th. Please feel free to stop by anytime during church office hours with your household items, home furnishings, decorations, children's toys or sporting equipment. Our boutique accepts your jewelry, scarves, handbags and accessories.

On Ash Wednesday, February 14, at 7:30 PM, we'll gather in our meetinghouse for a service of music, Holy Communion and the distribution of ashes (to those who opt to receive them.) All are welcome.

On the eve of Lent, Tuesday, February 13 all ages are invited to indulge in delicious pancakes in our fellowship hall! Festivities begin at 6:00 PM. Come enjoy the culinary wizardry of pancake chefs who've honed their craft over many years of volunteerism! Celebrate Mardi Gras the Congregational way! There is a suggested contribution of $5. (Family maximum, $20.) See you there!

This year, Christmas Eve morning is also the Fourth Sunday of Advent, so we will hold our usual 10:00 AM service. Later in the day, there are two candlelight services: a 5:00 PM service with guest musicians and youth singers; and a 9:00 PM service featuring Holy Communion, guest musicians and our wonderful adult choir.

On Wednesday, our small crew braved the chilly air to decorate one of the small trees at the Redding Town Green as part of the Light Up The Town Green initiative. Along with other local community organizations. First Church is proud to take part in what we anticipate will be an annual tradition to celebrate the holiday spirit in our town.

With temperatures in the low 30's this week, it's a reminder how much warmth and assistance the Santa's workshop donations will mean to people and families in need in the greater Danbury area. We collected over 90 coats, along with multiple bags of hats, gloves and cold weather gear. In addition, toys, books and stuffed animals were collected. Thanks to everyone who opened their hearts and closets, and special thanks to Courtney Cowles for her dedication in this year's drive.

It's been a busy week at the church! Santa's Red SUV is loaded and off to deliver over 100 Christmas gifts to recipients at Danbury and Redding Social Services. Thank you to all who generously gave this year and special thanks to our Dove Project coordinators: Bonnie McNulty and Suzanne Nolan for all their efforts.
