We are so excited to announce our 2024 recipient of The TBH Movement Impact Grant for $2,000 and first international grantee.
AIESEC is a global, youth-led organization focused on developing leadership potential in young people. And we can absolutely stand by their mission to empower youth for personal and professional growth, foster cross-cultural understanding, and promote social responsibility.
We are wishing the utmost success at the upcoming National Leadership Development Conference hosted in Calgary from 4/29 to 5/3, serving just over 200 students internationally.
And last but not least, we've got our final 2023 co-recipient of The TBH Movement Impact Scholarship, Quinn Ranjo, whose headed off to El Camino College in the fall with the goal of becoming an aerospace engineer.
Here are his reflections as he wraps up his high school career:
What is your favorite high school memory?
My favorite memories of high school were waking up at 10:30 and hanging out with friends
What is the most impactful lesson you learned from participating in the Youth Work Group?
The most impactful lesson I learned from participating in the youth work group is to give back to my community. It’s important to give back and help those in need in order to be a successful society.
"You're off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so... get on your way!" - Dr. Seuss
Congratulations, Quinn!!!
Next up is Shea Corkery, whose headed to Chico State University in the fall.
Here are some of his reflections as he wraps up his high school career:
What is your favorite high school memory?
Meeting so many different people and constantly connecting with new groups with different interests
What is the most impactful lesson you learned from participating in the Youth Work Group?
I learned that, no matter where you are in life, you can always give to others and spread positivity in some way.
Love it! Keep spreading that positivity, Shea!!! Wishing you an amazing next chapter!
Meet our first co-recipient of The TBH Movement Impact Scholarship 2023 - Lucas Lines, whose headed to UC Santa Barbara in the fall to study marine biology.
Here are some of his reflections as he wraps up his high school career...
What is your favorite high school memory?
My favorite high school memory was playing soccer and volleyball during my junior year. The connections and passion I shared with my teammates were highlights I continue to hold close. I still find myself looking back at those moments.
What is the most impactful lesson you learned from participating in the Youth Work Group?
The most impactful lesson I learned from the YWG was about the inequitable distribution of resources on a local scale. In the South Bay/Harbor Area alone, there is a big funding gap. This is reflected in the schools with the funding of schools in the area being extremely contrasted between more economically well-off areas and less economically resourced areas.
What am I most grateful for?
All the friends who have supported me to get to where I am.
Wishing you all the best in this next chapter, Lucas!!!
Reunited and it feels so good! I last saw this trio in June of 2021 when they delivered a check for $7,030 to a local non-profit, Sharefest. In just a couple of weeks, Lucas, Shea & Quinn will be graduating from their respective high schools and moving onto their next adventure. So very proud of this crew!
Today, they were awarded The TBH Movement Impact Scholarship for their philanthropic work and incredible achievement during such a difficult time in human history. Well done, !
Keep an eye out for spotlights on our alumni. Congratulations to our Class of 2023!!!
Thank you! ❤
Excited to drop the checks for ShareFest and Safe Place for Youth (S.P.Y) in the mail on Monday!

Celebrating 4 "official" years of serving our local South Bay communities
's journey actually started in 2014 right at my dining room table with Noah, Sarah, Caleigh, Jenna and Kailah. They launched the original Youth Work Group program as . I'm forever thankful to this crew for their grit and commitment. These "before" and "after" pictures really take me back.
Fast forward to 2021 and our impact includes:
• Mentoring 15 not-so-ordinary high school students 1:1 on civic duty and philanthropy
• Completing 4 fundraising campaigns and granting 4 local non-profits $23k+
• Launching the inaugural TBH Movement IMPACT Scholarship Award, awarding $450
It's been an exhausting, exciting, frustrating, fun, gritty, and incredibly worthwhile journey. Special thanks to all of my mentees, who I'm so incredibly proud of.
And after 7 years, it's time for a change. We're working to evolve The TBH Movement's vision and mission and excited to share what's in store for v2.0 in the coming months.
Our final co-recipient of the inaugural TBH Movement IMPACT Scholarship Award for their service and contributions to the community is Emma Kawashiri.
is headed to UC Davis in the fall and planning to major in Clinical Nutrition. Scroll left to see some of Emma's favorite memories from her senior year.
Here are some words of wisdom from Emma:
"The most impactful lesson I have learned... is to ALWAYS have grit and resilience, especially in the face of adversity."
What was your favorite memory from HS?
"By far, my favorite high school memories are all from my senior year. I was able to go to PROM with my friends, play basketball one last time with my fellow seniors, and graduate happily with the people I've grown up with!"
We are so proud of you, Emma!!! We're super excited for the impact you'll continue to make at UC Davis and beyond!!!
Next up, we've got Joel Yamada whose headed to
this fall and planning to major in Business Administration. Scroll left to see some of Joel's favorite memories from his senior year.
Here are some words of wisdom from Joel:
"The biggest lesson I have learned is to give as much as you can. The rewards and benefits are often intangible, but I feel like you get a lot more back from it. It also feels good too, so that’s a bonus."
What was your favorite memory from HS?
"I love hiking with my friends (school friends and out of school friends). It’s a nice way to catch up and talk about things that don’t keep us stressed :)"
We are so proud of you, .yamada!!! We're super excited for the impact you'll continue to make at UC Berkeley and beyond!!!
I say the same thing every time... and EVERY time my mind is blown away by how time flies. And just like that, it's time for the Youth Work Group 2021 to launch from their high school nest. We're proud to award Jillian Yamada, Emma Kawashiri and Joel Yamada the inaugural IMPACT Scholarship Award for their service and contributions to the community.
Our first awardee is Jillian Yamada whose headed to this fall and planning to major in Psychology. Scroll left to see some of Jillian's favorite memories from her senior year.
Here are some words of wisdom from Mia:
"Remind yourself of the purpose of your project and allow that to guide you; there may be times when things don't go as planned and you may become discouraged, but if you think back to reason why you are doing what you are doing (for us it was helping out the IDD community), then you WILL accomplish your goals."
What was your favorite memory from HS?
"When I went on a trip to San Diego with my high school basketball team to play in the SoCal Holiday Classic tournament; when we weren't playing we would hang out in the hotel room and recreate funny videos."
We are so proud of you, Mia!!! We're super excited for the impact you'll continue to make at UCLA and beyond!!!
Team Triple E officially delivered a check for $7,030 to ShareFest yesterday. What an incredible year and a half journey it's been with Shea, Quinn and Lucas!
What leaves me in awe about Shea, Quinn and Lucas is how incredibly selfless they were at a historical time when there was so much uncertainty and loss in the face of a pandemic. Never once did waver in their commitment to serve their community. In the face of a worldwide pandemic, these guys were inspired to keep pushing through. Once they learned about the struggles their peers were facing from neighboring underresourced communities, they were making calls, sending texts, knocking on doors (while physically distancing), executing campaigns and persuading others to care about their cause to , bridge gaps and promote as a pathway and means to a better future.
Their original goal to raise $4,500 appeared impossible at the start... that is, until they got to the finish line and decided to push themselves further. We are so excited to deliver this check to Sharefest, which will provide funding to start a necessary mentoring program to support students from underresourced communities navigate through higher education and vocational programs. Well done, !!!
Many thanks to Chad Mayer and Betsy Chou for coordinating schedules to bring us all together for the FIRST time and for reaching out to Councilmember Joe Buscaino's office to recognize their service to the community. And special thanks to parents, family, friends, neighbors and our local community members who took the time to care, tangibly give and create hope for a better tomorrow for us all!
It's OFFICIAL!!! not only reached their new campaign goal of $6,000, they EXCEEDED their target. Special thanks to Jason and Janice Yamada for helping them cross that finish line!

Quinn, Shea and Lucas perservered and persisted to fulfill the commitment they made to empower their peers from underresourced communities by bridging equity gaps through education. 100% of the monies raised will benefit ShareFest, a local non-profit that embodies Team Triple E's 3 pillars.
As of March 24, Team Triple E's raised $6,130... and I'm told there's still a few outstanding pledges.
Folks... THIS is what our world needs right now. People who dare to care and are willing to make a difference. THANK YOU - QUINN, SHEA AND LUCAS - FOR BEING EXAMPLES TO US ALL!!!
started off their journey in November of 2019 to better their communities. Lucas, Quinn and Shea were unrelenting and committed to the process and unanimously agreed to support ShareFest last July because of their shared mission to youth by bridging gaps through . After learning about the economic impacts of COVID on Sharefest's transformative programming, Team Triple E agreed to raise $4,500. What seemed impossible when they first launched their campaign on September 15, 2020, was made possible today.
Between individual pitches, Quinn's social media campaign, Shea's email campaign and now Lucas's contributions, Team Triple E has officially EXCEEDED their original fundraising goal of $4,500 and now this incredible trio has again unanimously decided to keep going until they reach $6,000. Love their hearts to serve their brothers and sisters from underserved communities in the South Bay.
Team Triple E took their show on the road today, headlining ShareFest. Shea, Quinn and Lucas pitched their cause to Michael Dean, CEO of Brand33, problem-solver extraordinaire, philanthropist and beyond decent human being. After hearing about 's commitment to empower their peers through bridging equity gaps and education and asking some tough questions, Mike made an incredibly generous POWER HOUSE donation! THANK YOU, Mike!!!
Beyond this donation, Mike gave these guys some valuable life advice. DO NOT FEAR FAILURE. It's not about how many times you fall down... It's about how many times you get back up. Life still feels so uncertain as we navigate back to "normal," and Mike reminded us not to cling too tightly to the good or the bad because they're all a part of life. He encouraged Shea, Quinn and Lucas to keep one foot in front of the other because, simply, this world needs them!
After tonight's pitch, Team Triple E's hit $3,145 of their $4,500 goal. Also, only Mike could convince these guys to reach higher...

Quinn, Shea and Lucas launched their campaign in September 2020 to 🅴mpower, 🅴ducate and address the 🅴quity gaps for their peers in neighboring communities right here in the South Bay. They made a commitment to raise $4,500 to support ShareFest, a local non-profit dedicated to each of these pillars. They're making good on their word. Five months later, they've officially reached the half way mark, officially raising $2,250.
Way to go, !!! This world needs you!!! Keep it up!!!
,
is 𝒂𝒍𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 ready to take their campaign on the road. Tonight Quinn, Shea and Lucas were surprised by their test audience of :
Caleigh Ranjo | | DePauw University, 4th year
Anna Corkery | | UC Davis, 1st year
Noah Kawashiri | | UC Riverside, 3rd year
Brooke Tokushige | | UC Davis, 1st year
Kailah Tokushige | | University of Calgary, 3rd year
It was especially amazing to see Quinn and Shea's faces light up when they saw their awesome older sisters! And it was an incredible blessing to witness these alumni give helpful feedback, share their personal insights and motivate Team Triple E.
They've got some polishing work to do before they give their first real pitch to Michael Dean, founder and owner of Brand33. And they will be ready!
,
Way to go, Quinn!!! Thank you for strategizing and collaborating with your parents on your social media campaign to support ShareFest!!! In just 3 days, Quinn has raised $475 and has $175 in pending pledges! Amazing!!!
has now raised a total of $2,115 of their $4,500 goal. More to come from this outstanding crew!
