The Outlet Program continues to address recent acts of homophobia and transphobia in our immediate community. Our team has been made aware of or directly experienced several hateful incidents throughout the greater Bay Area:
• Recent and significant vandalism committed against the offices of our partner organization, Coast Pride, which serves the LGBTQIA+ community along the coast
• At least one instance of having homophobic slurs yelled at Outlet clients and staff
• Several bomb threats made against schools and spaces supporting LGBTQIA+ youth after those services were made public.
As a program and agency, we condemn these homophobic and transphobic actions, and we stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community against such incidents.

The San Mateo County Pride Center and Outlet, a program of Adolescent Counseling Services, are thrilled to partner for The National Day of Reading! We hope you can join us on Tuesday, March 5 at the Pride Center for an afternoon filled with community and stories supporting Trans* and Non-Binary youth. Readings will be held at 3:30, 4:15, and 5pm.
Our celebration of stories will also include an optional Book Drive! We encourage participants of our event to bring books that support and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community, specifically youth, to donate to the Pride Center's library; however, it is not a requirement to join in for our readings.
Throughout the afternoon, we will focus on creating welcoming and affirming spaces for transgender and non-binary youth through the reading of inclusive literature, such as Introducing Teddy, 47,000 Beads, and "The Gender Reveal" a short story in Black Boy Joy: 17 Stories Celebrating Black Boyhood.
This event is free and open to the public. Light snacks will be provided. Join us from 3 to 6pm. The Pride Center is located at 1021 S. El Camino Real in San Mateo, 94402. Our building is located at 11th and El Camino.

Teatro Visión invites you to celebrate our LGBTQ+ community and allies at Pride Night of their production of La Muerte Baila, on Friday, Oct. 20 at the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose.
La Muerte Baila is a hilarious, musical journey through the afterlife!
A recently departed soul named Alejandro has just arrived in Mictlán, the land of the dead, on the eve of el Día de los Mu***os. But la Muerte notices that something is different about this soul’s arrival—he can’t remember anything about his past.
Meanwhile, los muertitos—the dead—can’t wait to get back to the land of the living to visit their loved ones. But the portal to the other land is blocked, and they discover that one of them is holding them back!
To cross in time for the holiday, los muertitos have to help Alejandro resolve his unfinished business, and they need your help! Otherwise, they might be stuck until next year…
Full of laughter and song, La Muerte Baila is a heartwarming story about forgiveness, about remembrance, and about choosing how we live our lives.
La Muerte Baila is performed in Spanish with English supertitles. General admission. Fun for the whole family!
WHEN: Friday, October 20, 2023 at 8:00p.
WHERE: Mexican Heritage Plaza. 1700 Alum Rock Ave., San Jose, CA 95116.
