Yes...There really are monsters out there !
This Halloween beware of online monsters who may be lurking on social media, messaging apps or gaming platforms to groom, exploit, terrorize or harm our children!
Key risks include:
• "S*xtortion"- convincing a child or adolescent to send explicit or n**e pictures or videos via cell phones, computers, social media or any digital device
• Grooming - a predator befriends and gains the trust of a child in order to take advantage of the child for s*xual purposes
• Child S*xual Abuse Material (CSAM) - any visual depiction of s*xually explicit conduct involving a minor (a person less than 18 years old)
• S*x Trafficking - using force, fraud or coercion to compel a person to engage in commercial s*x (note: it is not necessary to demonstrate force, fraud, or coercion in s*x trafficking cases involving children under the age of 18.)
• Cyberbullying - willful and repeated harm, harassing, humiliating, or threatening text or images
