Interest Rates Dropped by 1%

Interest rates continued to drop last week. Mortgage News Daily says the average 30yr fixed rate is 1% lower than mid-October. That translates into significant savings on your monthly mortgage payment.

There is a catch. Lower rates mean more home buyers coming into the market. Purchase applications were up 4% last week, according to MBA. More buyers with very few homes for sale could lead to higher prices.

The number of homes for sale increased by 0.5% last week, according to HousingWire. Usually, this time of year, the number of homes for sale decreases.
