That means only 7 school days remain in the 2022-23 school year. Crunch time for earning some final credits of the year!

Are you interested in the Bright Futures Conference?

Registration is due May 18th!

Students will have the chance to
experiences sessions including:

-Youth entrepreneurship
-Storytelling themes in anime
-leadership development
-participating in a strategic planning focus groups
-connect with community based resources
-keynote speaker
-Tour the MCTC campus
-Watch music + spoken word performances.

Here’s the agenda for the conference:

9:00 - 9:30 am: Welcome

9:30 - 11:30 am: Self-Directed Time
There are two 45 minute workshop sessions with 2 options per session and a concurrent resource fair

11:30 am - 12:30 pm: Lunch and Keynote Speaker (Cam Muata)

12:35 pm - 1:25 pm: Campus Tour

1:30 - 2:00 pm: Closing/Performances

2:00 pm: Departure

Ten Thousand Things Theater Company will be bringing us a performance of "Emilia", a female-led story of the truth behind Shakespeare's sonnets.

Ten Thousand Things works to bring plays to all people, and donates performances of their shows to schools, shelters, parks and many other places where people may not have access to see plays!

Join us at SEC for an info session about the new DRIVERS LICENSES' FOR ALL bill that begins on Oct 1st.

All are welcome to join at Sat, May 13th from 1-3pm. SEC is located at 7450 Penn Ave S Richfield MN, 55423.

This session is in partnership with Unidos MN.

Summer school at SECA is just around the corner!

If you need to recover some credit, sign up for the summer session happening June 12 - 29th.

Students who attend the full day (9am-2pm) have transportation and meal services available. Earn up to 0.5 credits towards your 21.5 for graduation!

Seek out scholarships that focus on who you are (first gen college student, Hispanic student, trade student, women in STEM, etc) and good luck! 💰🎓

Six career speakers, (including some SECA alumni!) will be visiting to share their stories and talk about their career paths. Career areas will include social work, cosmetology, business, computer programming, real estate and phlebotomy.

Normandale Community College is hosting an in person financial aid completion event on Thursday, October 27th from 5-7pm. This event is a community event and is open to all students regardless if they are planning to attend Normandale in the fall. Students and families are encouraged to sign up for a specific time slot as space is limited. They can access the available times by scanning the QR code on the attached flyer.

Tree Trust is hoping you can join us for their Tree Trust Career Fair on Thursday, March 23rd! Email them if you are interested!

- Virtual career experiences, paid employment program offerings for those aged 14 – 28
- Network with other area professionals
- Pop in any time from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., food catered by Brasa Premium Rotisserie
- Columbia Manor Reception Hall, 3300 NE Central Ave, Mpls. Lots of free parking available on site

The M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital Medical Staff is pleased to sponsor scholarships for deserving, academically outstanding high school seniors. Two $1,500 scholarships are available to eligible SECA students:

- 2023 Graduating Senior
- High Academic Achievement
- Outstanding School and Community Citizenship
- Plans to Attend College in the Fall of 2023

The scholarship is available for students pursuing all fields of study in college. Applications for this scholarship are due by Monday, April 17th.

Feb 1st marks the start of SEC's Month of Peace. Holding space for "peace" may look different to all of us - some want to jump in and take part, others may need to step back. Whatever it means to you, we encourage you to take care of yourselves a bit extra today (and this month).

Remember that you have to put on your own oxygen mask before assisting others on the plane.

Volunteering is our middle name!

SECA students and staff helped make over 200 sandwiches for a local community center. Well done SECA! Your hard work is appreciated.

Family Tree Clinic will be back at SECA on Feb 10th for an hour lesson on Healthy Relationships.

Earn 1 hour of com service for attending.

Several SECA students mentioned an interest in becoming a real estate agent after graduation - so what did we do? We found one for you to talk to!

Learn more about the process, successes and challenges of real estate on Feb 2nd at 1pm. Let Paul or Michelle know if you are interested.

Do you speak a second language? Do you want some elective or college credit? Great news! The Bilingual Seal is coming up later this month.

The end of the semester is a week away!

Community Service opportunity this Friday! Join us as we take part in The Sandwich Project - which is exactly what it sounds like... making sandwiches!

Earn an hour at PM WIN for volunteering.

SECA will be offering a Drivers Ed course next semester. If you are interested - tell your counselor ASAP!

Participants will be ready to pass their written test after completing this course. Let's hit the road, SECA!
