We had a great time celebrating New Year’s at Blue Ridge Senior Living of Richmond! 🎉
We had a great time singing Christmas Carols together! 🎶
We ended the week by mailing out almost 100 Christmas Cards to the troops serving overseas to wish them a happy holiday and thank them for their service. ❤️🇺🇸
December’s Activity Calendars! Lots to check out this month with Three Live Concerts, a Paint & Wine Night, and a Tacky Light Tour! 🎄
Today was all about Gingerbread Houses and Tree Decorating!🎅
For today’s post, we want to travel back to last Friday’s Halloween festivities here at Blue Ridge, which included a resident-staff Halloween Party & Costume Contest. We hope you have just as much fun looking at our pictures from the event as we managed to have at the event itself, and happy Thursday to you!
Happy November, all! Check out this month's activities & celebrations happening here at Blue Ridge!
It’s , so we figured we’d share these pictures from last month’s Parrots of Paradise show to bring some color & fun to your Thursday!
As we wrap up this year’s National Assisted Living Week, we wanted to leave you all with pictures of these positive art canvas creations our residents made in art class the other day. May they bring a smile to your face— as they did to ours— & serve as a reminder that it is truly caring, compassion, & community that make the world go round.
The best thing we celebrated this past National Assisted Living Week? Our residents! Thank you to Mr. Softee ice cream truck and DispatchHealth for their generosity in helping make this week a special one!
On this second-to-last day of National Assisted Living Week, we want to turn the spotlight on our very own compassionate & caring Blue Ridge SUPERHEROES— our staff! To each and every one of our employees, thank you for all that you do. You are SO appreciated!
In honor of this year’s National Assisted Living Week theme of “Compassion, Community & Caring,” we want to put the spotlight on another one of our INCREDIBLE residents, who dedicated 20 years serving her community as a volunteer Girl Scout Troop Leader in Chester, VA.
Ms. Nancy Coffelt began her years of service to the Girl Scouts by serving as the leader for a troop of 23 first graders. She said that she was inspired to give of herself in this capacity because she has always processed a "willingness to step up" and serve.
Nancy said that the best part about serving her community as a Girl Scout troop leader was "teaching songs and teaching young girls to love & appreciate their country." (In her own modest way, Nancy summed this up neatly as, "doing all the things that Girl Scouts do." The truth, of course, is that Nancy did SO much more!) Nancy's humility and dedication are testament to her character, especially in light of the fact that her position as a troop leader demanded much of her time and self. She truly lived the Girl Scout creed of: "On my honor, I will try to serve God & my country, to help people at all times, & to live by the Girl Scout law."
Nancy: Thank you for your service and dedication to your community, your compassionate and caring heart, and your commitment to helping others.
And our homemade dog treats have been dropped off at Richmond Animal Care and Control! We ❤️ our community!
In honor of this year’s National Assisted Living Week theme of “Compassion, Community & Caring,” we want to put the spotlight on one of our fabulous residents who spent the entire duration of her working years serving others with compassion & care as a registered nurse.
Marlene Goldstein, RN decided to delve into nursing because, as she put it, “I like people, and I’m a people person.” Above all else, it was Marlene’s desire to care for others that drove her. She began her career in nursing at the Medical College of Ohio. As a “float nurse” there, she gained a lot of valuable experience from serving a wide variety of patients— from those receiving cancer treatment, to those in pediatrics, to those on palliative care. Marlene eventually moved on to work at St. Luke’s Hospital in Toledo, OH. There, she continued her role as an exceptional and caring “float nurse,” always willing to help out wherever she was needed.
Marlene: Thank you for your service and dedication to your community, your compassionate and caring heart, and your commitment to helping others.
Happy National Assisted Living Week to all of our residents, staff, & family members! We have a lot of fun events planned to celebrate this week, so check back here throughout the week for pictures & highlights of our celebrations!
We had SO much fun yesterday with Mickey Moore at his fantastic “Mickey’s Magic Show!”
Yesterday was National Beer Lovers’ Day, so you know we celebrated with an autumn brew tasting here at Blue Ridge. Our favorite drink? Bold Rock Hard Cider’s apple cider!
Happy September, everyone! Check out all the fun we'll be having this month here at Blue Ridge Senior Living!
The rains have stopped (for now!), so we are enjoying some time with Mother Nature this morning. Check out our homegrown sunflowers & veggies, as well as today’s outdoor resident exercise session!
Today’s craft class was a fan favorite. Our residents had SO much fun making these colorful sun catchers, and now our 3rd floor dining room is looking particularly sunny, colorful, & fantastic!
Another GORGEOUS morning here means morning exercise class on the front patio. We hope everyone takes some time today to get out & enjoy this fantastic weather!
Tuesday was National Watermelon Day, and we celebrated the day here with some appropriately themed crafts!
August begins tomorrow, so take a look at all that we have planned for the month!
We had a great time at yesterday’s July Birthday Party! Happy birthday to all of our July birthdays!
to last Thursday's INCREDIBLE Family Reunion BBQ event! We had such a GREAT time with all of our residents, family members, staff, and loved ones, and these pictures do a pretty great job of reflecting that. HUGE thank you to MMG Photo Booth for their services-- they did a fantastic job capturing so many of these images, and in helping us to make some fun memories from the evening!
High of only 84 degrees today?? You know that means we did our morning exercise class & activities on the front patio! Absolutely gorgeous day here at Blue Ridge Senior Living of Richmond.
Happy Monday! Don’t forget that our Family BBQ event is happening THIS THURSDAY, July 15, featuring an amazing meal from Smokin’ Pigz BBQ, Mr. Softee Ice Cream Truck, Music and a Photo Booth! Still need to RSVP? Call the community at (804) 741-9494, or RSVP via email at [email protected].
Due to the incoming of Tropical Storm Elsa & inclement weather, our Family BBQ event is being postponed to NEXT THURSDAY, JULY 15! We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we hope to see you then.
Luckily, Tropica Storm Elsa only brought us an afternoon of rain yesterday here at Blue Ridge. In advance of the rain, we took advantage of a BEAUTIFUL morning to do our morning exercise class on our front patio— and our residents LOVED it!
Check out all that we have planned this month here at Blue Ridge!

We had a wonderful time celebrating our men (& some special lady guests, too!) at today’s Father’s Day celebration here at Blue Ridge.
To all our fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers, stepfathers, and to every man who’s served as a father figure or mentor to anyone in their life— happy, happy Father’s Day! We love & appreciate you, and we hope your special day is a great one!
If you need us, we’ve gone fishing! That’s right: It’s National Fishing Day, and our residents had a great time catching fish at our special event to celebrate the occasion 🐠🐟🐡
We started National CNA Week off with a Car Wash where managers showed their appreciation by washing nursing team member’s cars…it was just one very small way to say THANK YOU for all that they do! 💦 🚘 🧽
Happy National Herbs & Spices Day! We celebrated this morning by planting green peppers and various herbs in our remaining 2 planter boxes. And now, to watch them grow!
