At , we pride ourselves in sending trained professionals right back into the Commonwealth to serve Kentuckians, and it’s hard to think of a better example of that than Bill Bryant. Even while he was getting his broadcast journalism degree, he was already working at WKYT. We’re very proud to say that such a pillar of our local news market is an alum. 94% of KY counties have a shortage of primary care providers. Here at , we’re currently working to address these shortages with programs like nursing and occupational therapy, and through the establishment of our proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine, our output of trained medical professionals would drastically increase. We’ve got big changes underway on the ! I’m touring our Keene Hall renovations today, and I recently got to take a look inside the ongoing construction in the Baptist Health Arena at Alumni Coliseum. They both look amazing! I can’t wait for our students to be back in Keene again this fall and for our entire to be back in Alumni together in January!
While we’re still hard at work seeking to establish ’s proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine, our commitment to addressing healthcare shortages in Kentucky hasn’t stopped. 40% of Kentuckians live in rural areas, but only 17% of physicians practice in those communities. With that in mind, we have entered a partnership with six universities to address healthcare workforce challenges, foster economic development and promote regional prosperity in central Appalachia. If you know me, you know I love tennis. Earlier this month, I got to have a quick moment with our graduating tennis players at commencement. I’ll miss watching them play, but I’m glad I was able to wish them all well and thank them for representing so well on and off the court. Good luck to each of you in your future endeavors! 🙌🎾

Here at , we pride ourselves in the education that we provide our veterans. It was my honor to join our graduating vets at last week’s EKU Military & Veteran Affairs Graduation Banquet. I know it took tremendous sacrifice to get to this point, so I want to congratulate you all and thank you for your service. As you leave our campus, my hope is that the knowledge and skills you’ve learned during your time here help you navigate your personal and professional lives.

Meet Lexie Barth. She has been our President’s Office student worker and today is her last day in the office, so I decided to do something special for her. I knew that the Yung Gravy concert was her favorite event during her time on campus, so I pulled some strings to get her a signed Yung Gravy poster as a parting gift. She graduates this week with a PR degree. We’re so thankful for all you’ve contributed to our team, Lexie! Congratulations on graduating, and good luck in your new job! We’re so proud of you and all of our graduates.

The last week of classes can only mean one thing: Midnight Breakfast! The President’s Cabinet and myself look forward to serving our students at this event all semester long. It was certainly a late one, but I never get tired of catching up with our students as they wrap up the school year. I hope you all fueled up and are feeling ready for finals week! 🧇🍽️🥓
We recently had the opportunity to celebrate some of our staff and faculty’s dedication to at this year’s Milestone Recognition Breakfast. We’re committed to being an Employer of Choice, and our staff’s willingness to work on the for so long is proof that our efforts are paying off. This afternoon it was my privilege to join Congressman Andy Barr to announce a $3.5 million federal grant to construct a general aviation terminal at the Central Kentucky Regional Airport. Eastern Kentucky University will make an additional $1 Million investment to enhance this facility. This isn't just an investment in infrastructure; it's a step forward for aviation education in Kentucky. A huge thank you to everyone who worked hard behind the scenes to make this dream a reality. We can’t wait to get to work! ✈️
