FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 18th, 2019
DECLARATION OF DE-CHARTERSHIP FROM THE CALIFORNIA COLLEGE REPUBLICANS
On January 14th, 2019, the Executive Board for the University of California Riverside's College Republicans chapter along with 9 other schools’ Executive Boards each held votes to decharter from our formerly governing organization, the California College Republicans (CCR), in response to the actions and failures of our state officer leadership. Time and time again, we repeatedly observed personal relationships and fallouts spill into professional business, almost always affecting those who have nothing to do with such matters.
The Republican club at UCR is a small club. Some may call us insignificant, a no-name school in the middle of nowhere, and you wouldn’t be entirely wrong. We operate on a very simple principle: Leave us alone, and we’ll work with you. We are a conservative club that keeps to itself, and the last thing we want is for someone claiming to be an authority figure to get in the way of our affairs.
That having been said, yesterday, on January 17th, 2019, our state officers from CCR came to our meeting, unannounced. In an attempt to save face for the state organization, one officer proceeded to publicly berate me as the President of the club, accusing me of being a poor leader, in front of the entire general membership. These officers did nothing more than attempt to assert their authority over our club.
Last year, on May 16th, 2018, I, as President of the club, made the decision to remain within CCR and not decharter, due to a vote-rigging attempt by one of our old members at a general vote. That very day, UC Riverside’s small club became a battleground for two entities to which we owed no allegiance. Over two years, our chapter gave CCR a chance to make good on their promises to support us, electing instead to interfere with our affairs and attempt to steal the credit for all of the things that we did by ourselves.
There is no provision within our own club constitution that explicitly requires a vote to decharter be done by an Executive Board vote or a general vote. On that basis, I maintain and assume full responsibility for the dechartering of UCR’s chapter from CCR, and that decision will remain final. Everything that we do within UCR was done independently of CCR. Whatever small financial support CCR offered came with strings attached – funding for our events was revoked simply on the basis of the individuals who planned on attending. Other chapters were dissuaded from attending our events despite us being a fully chartered chapter.
To all of my fellow College Republican chapter leaders and chairs, allow me to deliver this warning:
We are a small school, and CCR thought they could push us around. The state organization is willing to publicly attack local chapter presidents if it means preserving power and control, no matter how far you are from them. CCR once claimed 42 chapters. As of this week, there are 16, with more soon to follow in their departure. The state officers are now in full damage control mode to prevent any further schools from dechartering and plug the holes before CCR collapses. They will pull every trick in the book to save themselves, even if it means setting up fake chapters at dechartered schools. If you do not obey, they will come for you.
Some may say we have nothing to gain from leaving. To that, I respond: We take no pleasure in leaving, but we have no qualms about letting go of excess baggage we never asked for. One of our main ideological pillars as a conservative organization is limited government, and the very bureaucracy we professed to fight against was what we lived under.
Godspeed,
Alan Nguyen
President, UC Riverside College Republicans
It is with a heavy heart that we, the College Republicans at UCSC, officially announce our disassociation and revocation of chartering from the California College Republicans. We joined this organization last year under the impression that it placed its focus on grass roots college activism and growing the Republican Party, but have found it to be ineffectual in these goals and to be in disarray under its current divisive leadership. We bid thee farewell.
Happy New Year 2019!!!
Merry Christmas! Wishing everyone the best time of year with family and friends. May God bless you, your family, your future, and this great country.
With all the democratic obsession over Russian interference in our elections, you’d think Riverside County Young Democrats would hold the integrity of our elections in higher regard. It’s sad to see RCYD make partisan policies above safeguarding the freedom and fairness of our election process, but we’re glad to see Bill Essayli and his team speaking out to ensure any possible irregularities are taken care of before they impact the election.
Furthermore, the Framers created our political process so everyday Americans can have input and insight into our political process. Kudos to the Essayli team for involving everyday Riverside County residents in their government, rather than the paid political operatives Cervantes has hired and flooded the Registrar’s Office with.

Voter suppression is nothing to brag about. Last weekend, Bill threatened to sue the Registrar and ask a judge to halt the counting of ALL ballots in Riverside County because he had began losing his small lead. His bullying tactics and threats eventually worked, and the Registrar acquiesced to his unreasonable demand: allow observers to walk in off the street and challenge ballots.
Within two days, his team of adhoc election officials had challenged 130 of YOUR votes, while Sabrina’s team had challenged 0.
Not everyone knows how to lose with grace. The Republican challenger is once again channeling his inner Trump, something that seemingly is coming easier to him with time.
Do not let Bill Essayli invalidate your vote just because it was not in his favor! Check on your vote-by-mail or provisional ballot frequently. Call the registrar and make sure your vote is counted, number below 👇🏼

Thanks for everyone that stopped by at our tabling event on Wednesday. Free Speech is under attack on College campuses and we as College Republicans will not stand idly by while campus administrators try to silence people's free speech. Everyone's first amendment rights must be protected on college campuses. Also thanks to UCR Young Americans for Liberty and UCR TPUSA for standing up for free speech.
A more light-hearted tabling topic today. Thank you everyone that stopped by! We're hoping Ruth Bader Ginsburg gets well soon. Humanity transcends politics.
Today November 6th, 2018 is the general midterm election where the people exercise their vote for representatives for local, county, state, and federal elections. The people that vote holds the power in a constitutional republic. Below is a list of candidates the UCR CRs have endorsed.
Bill Essayli - Assembly District 60
Ali Mazarei - Assembly District 61
Aja Smith - Congressional District 41
Russ Bogh - County Supervisor District 5
Stan Sniff - Sheriff
Today's tabling topic was on Birthright Citizenship. Thank you everyone that stopped by to have civil discussions with us on the topic and to our members that helped us with tabling. Be on the lookout for future CR events coming soon.
Fall 2018 Week 5 Meeting with Riverside County Supervisor candidate Russ Bogh. Thanks to all those in attendance. We recaped what happened at our Change Our Mind Tabling Event last Thursday and had a great discussion with Russ about politics, government, elections, and being conservatives on a UC campus. College Republicans at UCR has unanimously voted to endorse Russ Bogh for Riverside County Supervisor 5th District. Following the meeting we attended an event sponsored by Res Life to discuss our positions with students on several key propositions on the November 6 ballot including to repeal the gas tax. Russ Bogh for Supervisor 2018
Great turnout today at our first CR meeting of the Fall Quarter. Had some great discussions and saw a lot of new faces. Thanks everyone for coming out!
While we appreciate any and all support we get from fellow patriots, few have had our backs as much as Ali Mazarei. If you are local, help us return the favor by supporting the common-sense candidate for AD61. Head over to Vote for Ali or voteforali.org to volunteer and get your signs!
Today, the country lost a hero and a man with remarkable integrity. John S. McCain lost the fight against cancer, but his legacy as a fighter will always be remembered.
He made the tough choices so no one else had to. America and the world are better for having him. He demonstrated real leadership in our darkest hours, and will truly be missed.
The College Republicans at UCR are grateful for his service to our country and are deeply saddened by his passing. Our deepest condolences go to his family and may he rest in peace.
It’s a privilege to hear from Carl DeMaio on the gas tax and Prop 6 at tonight’s Republican Party of Riverside Central Committee meeting. Remember to vote in November!
Today is the Primary! As U.S. citizens, we have a duty to vote for our own sake and for the sake of those who come after us. As a reminder, here are the candidates our members have voted to endorse for this election:
Governor of California:
Travis Allen
U.S. Congress:
Aja Smith - District 41 (AjaforCongress)
California State Assembly:
Andrew Kotyuk For State Assembly - District 42
Bill Essayli - District 60
Ali Mazarei - District 61 (Write him in under Jose Medina, DON'T FORGET TO FILL IN THE ARROW)
Riverside County Sheriff:
Stan Sniff (Riverside County Sheriff Stan Sniff)
Polls close at 8:00 PM, if you don't vote you can't complain about the outcome!
While many of us take this day to relax with friends and family, we can't forget that, to many families, this day carries much more weight. Hundreds of thousands of brave men and women have made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting for our country and its values, and it is because of them that we have the privilege of enjoying this day with our loved ones free from fear. Take some today time to express your gratitude for those who have lost their lives in war this Memorial Day, and always keep our soldiers and their families in your prayers.
