From participating in service projects alongside her parents and grandparents growing up, she took her love of service and turned it into a lifelong passion and 20-year career. She has extensive experience in the public sector and is actively involved in her community.

In honor of Black History Month, we are excited to share our former student Martoinne Williams for our next Spotlight Series feature! Martoinne graudated from CBU Online in 2016 with a Bachelor's in Communication Studies after a long road of enrolling and dropping out of college. At one point, he decided college wasn't for him.

Finding himself at a crossroads in life, Martoinne decided to leave his 9 - 5 job and attend school full time, and it was one of the best decisions he ever made. Since graduating, Martoinne has traveled the country to speak to crowds on diversity and inclusion, and even gave a TEDxtalk. Kicking off 2022 with our Spotlight Series featuring Dr. Joe Slunaker, Assistant Professor of Christian Studies! After a whirlwind of events leading him to minister at a young age, Dr. Slunaker went on to earn his degree in Christian Studies from CBU. His professors, now colleagues strive to keep Christ at the forefront through seamlessly integrating faith with academics.⁠

Kicking off our first student Spotlight Series feature is Pamela Armstead.

After working as a journalist for 15 years, and serving 23 years in the U.S. Army, Armstead jumped faith first into pursuing a degree in English with CBU Online to fuel her love for writing and fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming an English teacher.

With her faith in God, and the support of her family, friends, academic advisor and English professors, Armstead is headed to the graduation stage in December of 2021. She truly exemplifies hardwork, dedication and a positive, go - getter attitude.

Kicking off our spotlight series, we are showcasing Dr. Sandra Romo, Department Chair, Arts and Sciences and Associate Professor of Communication for CBU Online.

Passionate about teaching, communication, connection and building relationships, Dr. Romo is dedicated to helping her students succeed in the growing field of communications.

A CBU alum, Dr. Romo knows firsthand what it is like to pursue your degree with a full plate. She is a mom to two kids, wife, dog mom, owns a baseball club with her husband and has dedicated research to bringing awareness to life after an autism diagnosis.

Dr. Romo’s family is truly part of Lancer Nation – her husband, brother, sister, and mom have all earned their degrees with CBU - We love to see a CBU family!
