At today’s Prayer Gathering at Bethel Shelters Day Shelter, someone shared a story that reminded me of how transformative it can be within ourselves to show love and care to another. So reach out. Make a connection. Be someone’s God Sighting. And you’ll see God as well. - Brandon

Trucks, trailers and able bodies needed: Our CBFSC Mission Partner, The Off Ramp, has a project on August 3 and they need help. On that day, they will distribute furniture and mattresses to recently arrived International teachers in the Rock Hill School District, about 20 people. They need volunteers with trucks/trailers who can help them get the furniture to the apartments and able bodies to help them move it. The volunteers will need to be at The Off Ramp by 7:30 a.m. to help move and arrange furniture so that teachers can see what is available and then help deliver the furniture. The deliveries should be finished by noon. Those willing to help should contact Nell Green, [email protected], and she will provide more details.

“What, to the American slave, is your Fourth of July?
“I answer: a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciation of tyrants, brass-fronted impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade and solemnity, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy—a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages.”
~Frederick Douglass
Social reformer, abolitionist, orator, and writer. After escaping from enslavement in Maryland, he became a national leader of the abolitionist movement. In the icon he points to the North Star. Which is captioned by the Greek initials for “Jesus Christ”
