Hello MNSA! We have an amazing opportunity coming up that you won’t want to miss!! An Outreach Specialist from Catholic Charities WIC (Women, Infants, Children) will be presenting to us about Hunger Solutions NY on Tuesday, September 17th from 3:30-4:30 pm.
Please Note: This meeting is on ZOOM ONLY.
This organization strives to maximize participation in and support for federally funded nutrition assistance programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program, the Summer Food Service Program, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), and the Child and Adult Care Food Program. They work heavily on the advocacy, policy, and service provider side of federal nutrition programs.

Imaan Toppa ( middle ) is a senior in the traditional Baccalaureate Nursing Program at Molloy University and is expected to graduate in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is a peer mentor for the Molloy Nursing Student Association Peer Mentorship Program and a part of Molloy University’s Heart Safe team. In addition, Imaan has held a position on the Molloy Muslim Student Association Board as a Co-Public Relations officer where she managed the social media account and content by creating posters and flyers. Upon earning her degree, Imaan aspires to work in a Labor and Delivery unit and further expand her career by obtaining her masters. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her friends and family and trying out new cafes. Imaan enjoys helping others and providing guidance to those at Molloy University through peer mentoring, volunteering, and facilitating heart-safe events. By being a Heart Safe Director, Imaan is eager and determined to help facilitate, organize, and attend various events. More so, she looks forward to an amazing academic year and hopes to become an impactful individual in teaching CPR and raising heart health awareness among others.
Destiny Matzen ( right )is a second semester Junior nursing major in the traditional undergraduate Baccalaureate Program. With an anticipated graduation date of fall 2025. Following graduation her goal is to become a pediatric oncology nurse with the long term goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. She looks forward to creating positive experiences for pediatric patients. She is a first generation college student and a veteran of the United States Army. Community service is something she is passionate about and has experience volunteering at her local nursing home. Outside of pursuing her future career she enjoys working out, reading books and trying different coffee shops. She is thrilled and grateful to be a part of the MNSA board this year. As well as finding ways to have a positive impact on the community!
Lily Gosin ( left )is a Senior at Molloy University, Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing, and will be graduating with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in December 2025. She is interested in becoming a pediatric emergency room nurse upon graduation, hoping to further her education as a nurse practitioner. She currently works in emergency medicine as an EMT-B with multiple fire departments. Community service has always been a passion of hers, as she currently volunteers with her local fire department as both an EMT and a firefighter, serving her community. She also has prior experiences volunteering with a Suffolk County Legislator on the importance of vaccinations, as well as with different community outreach events with Suffolk County Adult Protective Services. She is extremely excited to bring this passion of community service to the MNSA board. In her free time, Lily enjoys golfing, exercising, drinking coffee, and hanging with her friends, family, and two cats Teddy and Milo, and is also on the Molloy University Cheerleading Team. Lily is looking forward to meeting new people through MNSA and having new experiences throughout the remainder of her college career at Molloy.
Join us for our welcome back meeting, on Tuesday, September 10th from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm. Students will learn more about MNSA, some of our resources, and how to get involved.

Jenna Flynn (left) is a senior in the traditional undergraduate nursing program. She is planning to graduate in May of 2025 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Jenna is also a member of the Honors Program. Jenna will become the first registered nurse in her family.
In the future, Jenna wishes to work in a critical care setting, specifically the emergency department. In the future, she plans on becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and eventually a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) and working in a practice.
Jenna also is a member of the Molloy Women’s Rugby Team. In her free time, she enjoys working out, playing with her dog and cat, and spending time with friends and family. Jenna is also a member of MNSA’s heart safe initiative and enjoys volunteering to teach hands-only CPR. She is very grateful and excited to serve on the board of MNSA for this upcoming year!
Aidan Golden (middle) is currently a sophomore enrolled in the traditional nursing program at Molloy College, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2027. Upon earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, Aidan will continue a family tradition, joining the ranks of many registered nurses within his family. Aidan aspires to work in a critical care setting, where he can provide high-level care to patients with serious, acute health conditions. Following his graduation from Molloy, Aidan has plans to further his education by pursuing a master’s degree. His ultimate career goal is to specialize in anesthesia and become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Outside of his academic and career pursuits, Aidan dedicates a significant portion of his free time to maintaining his physical fitness and enjoys regular exercise sessions at the gym. He also takes on familial responsibilities, often caring for his younger siblings. In addition to his personal and academic commitments, Aidan is an active participant in Molloy’s extracurricular activities. He is a member of Molloy’s E-Sports team, specifically playing “Overwatch,” a popular team-based shooter game.
Katherine Cerini (left) is a Junior in the traditional Nursing Program at Molloy University. She plans to be graduating May 2026. Her goal is to is to work in the operating room as a Cardio Thoracic or Orthopedic nurse. She is looking forward to helping people in the hospital setting. In her free time she likes to see her friends and family. She also works at a physical therapy office interacting with patients and helping them with their exercises. She is excited to embark upon this new role as MNSA secretary and is looking forward to getting more involved with Molloy and its students.
Alexa Deyhle (right) is a junior nursing student at Molloy University, set to graduate in the winter of 2026. She aims to become a pediatric oncology nurse and later a nurse practitioner (NP) , with the ultimate goal of opening her own aesthetics practice. Currently, Alexa works with special needs children, facilitating sensory classes, and is a certified nursing assistant with experience in hospitals and nursing homes. Her dedication to pediatric care and comprehensive hands-on experience underscore her commitment to making a positive impact in healthcare. In the future, Alexa plans to offer a range of aesthetic services, blending medical expertise with a personalized approach to enhance clients’ natural beauty and well-being. Additionally, she aspires to become a nursing professor, sharing her knowledge and passion with future generations of nurses.
Arianna Itri (left) is a senior in the traditional undergraduate Barbra H. Hagan School Of Nursing at Molloy University. She is expected to graduate in May of 2025.
Arianna wishes to become a pediatric oncology nurse when she graduates. Arianna has a great passion for nursing and wishes to share it with other individuals and nursing students. Arianna is very passionate about raising money for rare cancer research as she is involved in cycle for survival for MSK and raises money for Pediatric cancers. Arianna wishes to make a difference in the lives of those who are affected by rare/pediatric cancers. She wishes to add light to the lives of those who are in their most vulnerable states. She cannot wait to become a nurse upon graduation!
Emily Goldberg (right) is a junior in the traditional undergraduate Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing at Molloy University. She is set to graduate in May 2025 with her Bachelor in Science of Nursing. She is a member of the Honors Program, Mission Scholar and Leadership Scholar Programs. Emily’s future goals as a Registered Nurse is to specialize in Labor and Delivery or Pediatrics after graduation. Her passion for Labor and Delivery was discovered through her internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center while shadowing on the floor various times. She also plans to further her education in graduate school to become a Nurse Practitioner. During her free time, Emily enjoys reading, going to the beach and being around friends and family. She has strong desires to help those around her in need emotionally and physically.Emily is very excited to serve her second year on Molloy’s Student Nursing Association board as a Co-Treasurer alongside Arianna Itri!
Maria Ferrigno (right) is a senior in the traditional undergraduate Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing at Molloy University. She is expected to graduate in May 2025 with her Bachelor in Science of Nursing with hopes of furthering her education and obtaining her Nurse Practitioner license. Maria’s passion is to specialize in Labor and Delivery and continue her unwavering desire to help others. Since her freshman year, Maria has been active in the Molloy Student Nursing Association and the Peer Mentorship Program here at Molloy. This has inspired her and she is excited to take on the position of Co-Vice President. Maria’s experience as a Girl Scout and involvement in various community service activities such as breast cancer walks, blood drives, leadership seminars, beach cleanups, donating premature baby hats to women’s shelters and providing home cooked meals for the families of the Ronald McDonald house brings her great joy knowing she can help and support others within the community. Maria has also served as an ambassador for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Organization. This opportunity has helped her further her leadership skills which has helped her earn The President Bogner Legacy Scholarship Award at Molloy University in 2022 and 2023. In her free time, Maria enjoys volunteering at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in a post-operative and oncology department, where she has obtained clinical knowledge and skills from all of the hard working nurses. She also loves reading books, cooking, traveling to new places and spending time with her loved ones. Maria is eager to take on the role of Co-Vice President for MNSA.
Victoria LoGiudice (left) is a Senior in the traditional nursing program and is planning to graduate Molloy in May of 2025 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She is also looking forward to becoming the first registered nurse in her family. She would like to earn her master’s degree, specialize in cardiac care, and work in the ICU. Later on, Victoria hopes to earn her DNP (Doctorate in Nursing Practice) and teach future nursing students. She was the Regional Director Co-Chair and Midhudson Regional Director for the Nursing Students Association of New York State. She has also previously served as the Communications Director Subcommittee for MNSA(2022-2023) and Co-Vice President for MNSA (2023-2024). She currently serves on the Nursing Students Association of New York State board of directors as STAT Editor.
Lindsey Stevenson (right) is a Senior in the traditional undergraduate nursing program for the Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing at Molloy University. She plans to graduate with her BSN of science in nursing in May of 2025. Once Lindsey graduates, she would like to work in the Intensive Care Unit in hopes to continue her education and become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). She is the first in her family to pursue a career as a RN, following in her grandmother’s footsteps as a LPN. She knew she wanted to become a nurse after watching nurses care for her family members through the years and after watching nurses care for others throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. She has been an active member of the Molloy Nursing Student Association and the Peer Mentorship Program since her freshman year.
Thank you to those that attended the Asthma training today! And a BIG thank you to ALA, Dr. Dempsey, Dr. Reens, Dr. Moore, Professor Ventrello, and Respiratory Therapy for all of their efforts to provide thorough Asthma education. Students learned what Asthma was, how to identify Asthma triggers, how to use the proper medications for asthma, types of medications and inhalers, and how to use the Asthma Action Plan.

Join us on Wednesday, August 21st for our second Asthma Certification Training with Dr. Dempsey and the American Lung Association. This year the training will take place at the Molloy Suffolk Center from 10:30 AM-1:30 PM.
This training requires registration using the link found in the email sent out from MNSA.
At this training, you will review the pathophysiology of Asthma, learn how to use the medications and devices, how to use the Asthma Action Plan, and the triggers and remediation.
After this training, you will be certified in Asthma Basics and Let’s take Control of the Asthma Flip Chart which is used within local hospitals.

Volunteers needed at David Paterson Elementary School on Saturday, June 8th. Volunteers are needed between 9 am and 1 pm. There will be intervals. You can volunteer from 9 am- 11 am or 11 am to 1 pm. This is a great opportunity to provide Asthma Education at a Community Health Fair.
Please Note: ALL students can attend. But this event is highly recommended for students who are already trained in the ALA Flip Chart or students currently enrolled in 4390 (Public/Community Health).

As the semester is coming to an end soon and finals are approaching, join us on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024 in Hagan 004 from 3:30-4:30 for our Destress with Dr. Alberti Meeting! This meeting is in-person with a zoom option.
During this time stress reduction is very important to keep our minds healthy as we study for finals!
Dr. Alberti will be guiding students through some great stress techniques for you to try during any stressful time to calm your mind and enhance productivity. Not only are these techniques great for studying but can be used during any period of stress.

As medical professionals we have a calling to serve those in need! Support a family in El Salvador who is in need to care for their son who suffers from a seizure disorder. Without medical care his life is in grave danger!!

We would like to thank our Community Service Directors for organizing this event at the Ronald McDonald house in New Hyde Park. We cooked brunch for the families living in the Ronald McDonald house while their children are in the hospital. We cooked French Toast and Sausage. We also donated fruit cups.
We would also like to thank the students from MNSA who came to volunteer.

We will make brunch for families living at the Ronald McDonald House. MNSA will provide the ingredients, but we need your help preparing brunch. We invite 12 students to join us in serving brunch from 9:30 AM-12:30 PM. Check your email for the sign up link!
