Let's talk about what "lived-in" means and who is this look for.

Lived-in is a term used by us artists to refer to anything that's low maintenance, manageable, texturized, or natural

When it comes to lived-in hair cuts, picture the "I woke up like this" look where it takes minimal product/tools to get the perfect style...

And, when it comes to lived-in color, this picture is a great reference. It's great because it doesn't require frequent visits to touch up and when it grows out, will still look beautiful and natural.

This client was the perfect person to use chunky highlight technique...

In this case, I was adding depth back into the hair and on top of that, she had about 2 inches of regrowth with previous uneven, over processed, chunky highlights all over.

With a lot of olaplex and patience I was able to get her hair healthier and the chunky kind of highlight she really wanted.

It has come time that Covid-19 has a heavy resurgence in Michigan. Our governor just announced a 3 week lockdown in which salons are ABLE TO STAY OPEN. We have made the decision to keep our guests and staff SAFE and be a leader in our industry when it comes to flattening the curve and continue to stay closed. (See our previous posts) .Although this is not an easy decision it is the right one for our company and our guests. Salons have been and will continue to be a safe space for our guests. has been at the forefront of sanitation practices since the beginning, as can be found on our reviews online. Meet the artist behind the mask...

My journey with hair started back in 2018 at the in Royal oak, Michigan and I graduated back in October of 2019..

Since then, I've worked under some the best artist in the area and have grown so much in the last year..

I've now been licensed for a little over a year and continuing my education had been my top priority. I'm lucky to have found my home at where we strive to provided an elevated guest experience and continuing education is key to our success.

I'm excited to see what my future holds as I've grown so much in the one year I've been behind the chair as licensed professional.

I'd like to shout-out all the educators at mane.artist for helping me becom the artist I am today.

You don't need a full head of foils to make a big change...

For my client today we did a halo root and left a lot of her natural depth so the color on top pop.

Took to the cool side...but just temporarily.

Let's talk maintenance!

No matter how healthy your hair is, it's always best to stay up on your haircuts every 6-8 weeks especially if you're trying to grow your hair out.

Most people think that not getting it cut will help grow thier hair long and beautiful when in reality that's not the case because the damage from everyday life plus heat styling will cause your damage to move up the hair shaft meaning you'll end up with very brittle and thinned out ends.

Luckily for my beautiful client today she hardly ever uses heat in her hair and it showed! We only had to take off about an inch and touched up her layers.

Picture it....

Grown out lob that hasn't been touched since march..so about 3 inches of regrowth...plus super bright blonde from mids to ends.

Fast forward to today, I added in some lowlights to get her ready for fall and fresh cut.

That blend though.

First time I have perfect lighting for men's cuts.

It had been years since she had any kind of color done!

I went in and gave just the right amount of brightness using a halo technique around the hairline and then used diagonal moehawk section.

Again, this is color is going to last her a long time and there's not going to be any harsh grow out lines.

Nothing makes a client feel better than having their roots done and a cut that makes their ends look full and healthy again.

In love with this beachy lob. I styled her hair with the Bio Ionic hair wand then used beach club texturizing spray and paste.

Love a good high contrast moment.

It's amazing the difference when you understand your mistakes and you can learn from them. The last picture was when I learned the hard way about toning on level. Look at the difference now! Also, tried a new technique air touch balayage

Had fun on my mannequin using vivids using the bubble technique.

Had such a great time catching up with . I removed some purple she had from a previous teasylight and balayaged to bring her more to a natural color. I took a video with natural lighting and some pictures with indoor lighting.

She's a pink dream....Root was jam and cupid mids was candy and blush and ends were straight blush.

Really proud of this one. Did full head teasylight using collab with kit and I'm in love with all the products. The tease.me spray was a must for this client becuas she has fin hair and that tease stayed in place. I used base 6-1 with icy and used 6-1 and 9-1 for the mids and then icy 1:3 on the ends and all over.

Not the best before picture but she had a highlight done before and we wanted to bring her a little darker so we blended her root down and balayaged the ends to break up the highlight. Toned with redken shades 1oz 6NA, 1oz 9nb, 1oz 9v with some clear.

Pretty proud of this one. She had used a blonde box dye at home and ended up with the previous pictures. She had a lot of banding in her hair and I tried my best to get everything even. Let me know what you guys think! I toned with icy and a dash of natural and lifted with and

It's been a while since I've posted 🙈 but, here's what I worked on today. I did a color retouch using 5-00, and 5-1. Before rinsing out her retouch, I emulsified the remaining color from mids to ends to help tone down the orange.
