100 years ago the AMA fully embraced the mind-body dualistic split. They pushed for yang-only medicine, took one of the snakes off the caduceus, made midwifery illegal witchcraft, and completely denied any mystery in science. I experience part of my work as mending this disparity.

A medicine woman's prayer: I will not rescue you, for you are not powerless. I will not fix you, for you are not broken. I will not heal you for I see you in your wholeness. I will walk with you through the darkness, as you remember your light.

I saw this posted in a group. I must add that also, I will not heal you, but support your nervous system to bring forth the resources your body needs to orient fully to health, since each body is always inclined towards equilibrium.
