More affordable housing is coming to Maplewood, Minnesota! 🏗️ The Juniper will be a family-friendly apartment building with 65 units, each renting for 30% to 60% of the area's median income. We love funding this kind of housing, which is so badly needed. 💙💚 🏘️

As co-chair of the Minnesota Interagency Council on Homelessness, we stand by the following message of concern about the Supreme Court’s recent ruling that criminalizes homelessness. Housing and services end homelessness. Tickets and arrests do not. We can, and must, do better. 💙💚
Less than a year ago, Phillip W. lived in public housing. He recently closed on his first home thanks to our First-Generation Homebuyer Loan Program. "After some readjusting and goal setting, everything was made possible," he said. Governor Peggy Flanagan, Senator Clare Oumou Verbeten, Senator Mary Kunesh, Representative Michael Howard and Paul Eger of Minnesota Realtors, as well as bill author State Representative Esther Agbaje, who wasn't able to attend.
We celebrated a lot of numbers at last week's grand re-opening of Windwood Townhomes in Duluth: 70 rehabbed units (8 are supportive housing), 7 buildings and millions of dollars in funding.
But it all comes down to 1 special place for everyone to call home. 💙
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen (😮!) and Senator Tina Smith hosted a roundtable last week with state and local housing leaders. Commissioner Jennifer Ho thanked them for COVID-era investments and stressed the ongoing need for federal dollars, especially to preserve .

Housing linked to services and support are what ends homelessness, not punitive measures. That’s why Agate Housing and Services and Trellis Co. broke ground this week on a shelter/supportive housing combo in South Minneapolis.
We were one of many partners who pooled funds for this project, including an anonymous donor. Kudos to all! Now, the work continues.
