Iterum Wines
Iterum Wines is the crescendo project by celebrated Willamette Valley Winemaker, Joe Dobbes.
Back in the early 90’s, Joe had the opportunity to attend one of the first International Pinot Noir Celebrations which opened doors to apprenticeships with luminaries across Burgundy and the Willamette Valley. IPNC has built such beautiful community among this industry and with Pinot Noir connoisseurs across the globe. We are excited for a full circle moment this coming weekend as we get to represent Iterum Wines at seminars, tastings and dinners.
If you’re attending, please come say hello. If you haven’t purchased a ticket yet, there’s still time. We’ve linked their site in our bio. 🍷
Thanks, Norm!

Iterum Wines 2021 Chardonnay, Orchard House Vineyard, Eola-Amity Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon ($75)
Norm Roby 96 Points
Sourced from the Dobbes family home estate vineyard planted in 2016, this is one extraordinary Chardonnay. Initially, you think it might be French. That’s surprising for such a relatively young vineyard but this is an unusual and distinct wine. Light yellow with green tint, it opens up to offer layer after layer of rich, concentrated aromas and flavors. Beginning with a note recalling effusive fresh cut apple, it picks up subtle lemon curd, and a hint of ginger with a little oak vanilla. Medium full on the palate with similar flavors, it is smooth, concentrated and nicely textured. The non-stop flavors continue and lead to a lovely, long-lasting lemon and oak spice aftertaste. The vineyard is organically farmed and the wine was barrel fermented with the native yeasts and aged for 11 months in 37% new French and 12% new Acacia barrels. A small percentage went through malolactic fermentation which accounts for its vibrancy and balance. One of the finest Oregon Chardonnays in my experience. 220 cases made.

Happy Father’s Day to the man, Mister Joe Dobbes! You are so loved!🥂❤️
is showing some love for our 2020 Orchard House Chardonnay… Thanks for the 93 points,
“A sweet tea with lemon aroma is joined by toasted filberts and rich cocoa butter notes. The brain now thinks a creamy Chardonnay experience is on the agenda. The palate then turns out to be dry and crisp, with nice acidity and loads of lemon zest and Granny Smith apple flavors. Love the yin and yang.” — Michael Alberty
Sauvignon Blanc is certainly catching attention in this valley! It was so lovely to join fellow producers of the grape on yesterday’s Sauvage panel.

Meet Co-founder of Iterum Wines and wife of Joe, Patricia Dobbes. Patricia was born on the Caribbean coast of Colombia in Sincelejo. She received her degree in law from the University Externado of Colombia in Bogotá. In 1999 the political situation in her country compelled her to make the difficult decision to move to the United States. Here she found support from her family, friends and the government. In 2010, after 11 years of residency, Patricia was granted American citizenship. She became enthralled with the Willamette Valley wine industry soon after immigrating to Florida and later, Oregon’s Umpqua Valley. In 2002 Patricia came to Salem, Oregon to visit her sister where she met her husband Joe Dobbes. He introduced her to the world of Pinot Noir. As Patricia would say in her language, “El Amor por el Pinot Noir”.
Since meeting Joe, Patricia has been in the wine industry. At Joe and Patricia’s original project, Dobbes Family Estate, Patricia worked in the Tasting Room as the Hospitality Ambassador. Today, Patricia wears many hats at Iterum, from hospitality, accounting, sorting fruit, vineyard pruning and barrel topping. When visiting the estate today, you’ll often find her hiking through the vineyard. She says that her soul and heart are infused in this land here at the Orchard House Estate.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude!🙏

Today’s tasting included some summer inspired pairings by Joe…
Saffron butter scallops in a white wine and citrus cream reduction paired with our Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
And with the Pinots, seared ahi, organic estate tomatoes and shish*to peppers.
We spent summer solstice in our favorite place, the vineyard.🍇
The 2023 vintage is looking bright! Our Chardonnay is just ahead of our Pinot Noir on their race to maturity while our young vine Sauvignon Blanc is just about ready to trellis this weekend. Although we are a couple vintages away from making our first estate Sauvignon Blanc, this growing season milestone gets us excited for what’s to come.
We hope you’re savoring today’s daylight and soaking up the sun like these thriving vines.
We are so excited to be moving into our new, dedicated Iterum Wines facility in the hip and up-and-coming historical town of independence, a short distance from our Eola-Amity Hills Orchard House Estate Vineyard.
Our intentions are to keep Iterum Wines small, and highly focused on distinctive, exciting, luxury quality wines.
The facility is ideal for our needs with sufficient space. This now allows Joe the opportunity to take on a couple more, right-fit, custom winemaking clients. For those seeking luxury quality wines made by him and sourced from our estate or others, reach out to set up an appointment to discuss more.
