PROTOCOL
For lumbar procedures, the patient is positioned supine on our non-surgical spinal decompression system. The Patented Pelvic Restraints are adjusted to comfortably secure the patient’s pelvis. The upper torso is secured to the fixed section of the table. The Patented Elevation Table is either lifted or lowered electronically which isolates and concentrates the forces to target specific spinal segments. With precise computer controlled tension, the specific disc segment is gently distracted.
For cervical procedures, the cervical unit is first electronically tilted to the angle required to target specific segments of the cervical spine. The patient is then placed on the table with their head positioned in the cervical cradle unit. The patented Cervical Restraints are designed to comfortably capture the base of the patient’s skull for controlled distraction.
A typical protocol consists of 20-25 sessions that are 30 minutes each in duration. Triton DTS sessions are typically administered 3-5 times per week over a 4-6 week period. The procedure is performed with the patient fully clothed and has been described as safe, painless and extremely effective. In fact, it is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep during the procedure. Each session has a cumulative effect designed to significantly reduce pain and improve function as patients progress through the Sciatica reduction spinal decompression program.
Non-surgical Spinal Decompression is showing encouraging success rates for patients suffering with lumbar and cervical disc pathologies, both alone and in conjunction with complimentary patient services.
Indications that you might have a diagnosis that we can help with: if you are unsure, schedule a consult and lets determine if you are a candidate for a MRI of your spine.
Back pain facts! 86% of the population will experience back pain, if you do nothing, it will come back more frequent, more intense, and eventually could be disabling. We can help.
What Is Shockwave Therapy and What Does It Do?
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive modality that uses high-intensity acoustic shock waves directed into specific tissues to promote healing. Through induction of a safe amount of stress on the tissue, it helps break up scar tissue, improve microcirculation, and boost local metabolism. It serves as an alternative treatment to surgical intervention or medication management and can be a great adjunct to rehabilitation.
How radial ESWT works
Compressed air accelerates a projectile up to 80 to 90 kph within a guiding tube that strikes a metal applicator placed on the patient's skin. The kinetic energy is converted into a radial shock wave. The projectile generates stress waves in the applicator that transmit pressure waves into tissue to a depth of 4 to 5 cm.
What Is Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy?
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a commonly interchangeable term used when referring to shockwave therapy. The added word, extracorporeal, simply indicates that the therapy is performed over the skin.
What Common Conditions Can It Treat?
Joint Pain
Shockwave therapy signals the body to kickstart the natural healing process. In doing so, it can offer individuals with joint pain enhanced circulation to affected regions, pain relief, and tissue repair.
Tennis Elbow
Similarly, numerous studies point to the benefit of shockwave therapy in the treatment of tennis elbow. By directly stimulating blood vessel creation and healing it helps sufferers exit the chronic inflammatory state that often occurs in tennis elbow.
Tendonitis
Besides joint pain and tennis elbow, research also suggests that shockwave therapy can improve pain ratings, overall function, and healing of inflamed tendons in tendonitis conditions. In one of many studies, results showed improvement in reported Achilles tendinopathy symptoms in 20/23 studied patients.
Osteoarthritis
Finally, shockwave therapy shows promise for individuals suffering from arthritic pain through the modification of cartilage and subchondral bone. With 58.5 million people suffering from arthritis in the US alone, it provides hope to reduce daily pain and improve functional mobility.
The bottom line, shockwave therapy can be useful for a variety of conditions through an increase in cellular metabolism, revascularization, pain reduction, and enhanced circulation.
The evolving list of diagnoses for which ESWT shows potential includes:
Shoulder tendinopathy
Lateral epicondylosis*/epicondylitis
Greater trochanteric pain syndrome
Hamstring tendinopathy
Patellar tendinopathy
Medial tibial stress syndrome
Achilles tendinopathy
Plantar fasciitis*
Knee osteoarthritis
Fracture nonunion
Spasticity of spinal and supraspinal origin (stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy)
For $49 dollars, you could get examined to see if you are candidate for ESWT, and even receive treatment on the same day, which takes about 10-15 minutes. Call 503.339.7351 InterState Medical Group is located at 1410 Lancaster Dr. NE Salem, OR 97301
