Before Nike SB became Nike SB, it first used a Nike Air logo I drew. The first tradeshow in 2002 marked Nike’s final attempt to enter the skateboard industry after a couple of other attempts. The industry wasn’t super keen on Nike’s presence at the ASR show in San Diego.

We displayed new footwear models, some retro styles that included the Dunk. Most notably we displayed the infamous Nike SB eBay Dunk. Cut into pieces, it was enclosed in the wall in a locked cubby hole (seen on the right wall in the first image). We had also displayed the Zoom E-Cue cut in half to show the construction, materials and thicknesses. On more than one occasion we witnessed footwear factory folks come by and take measurements and notes. The booth was small and we debuted our displays and other P.O.P. We were awarded “Best Small Booth” by ASR. We went on to exhibit at many other tradeshows. In 2010, ASR called it quits after 20 years citing difficult economic times due to consolidation. The rest is history. RIP Sandy Bodecker and John Martin.
