UPCOMING ROAD IMPACTS: Beginning Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, and continuing through late-August there will be road improvements and traffic delays throughout the community of Vallecito.
Road sign installations will take place on Main Street (Vallecito), Parrots Ferry Road, Red Hill Road, Red Hill Access Road, and Vallecito Road.
Traffic lanes along the roadways will be affected with use of flaggers and warning devices. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution in the area. Crews will be active during daylight hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The Road Safety Sign Audit Project (RSSA) is being constructed by Highway Specialties, Inc. who is under contract with Calaveras County Public Works. Your cooperation is appreciated as we work to complete the project on schedule.

Calaveras County is soliciting proposals from qualified service providers for Grazing Services to conduct vegetation management of Cosgrove Creek in Valley Springs. The Request for Proposal process will be used by the County to select a firm to enter into a Professional Services Agreement with the County.
The service provider shall furnish all labor, material, equipment and service necessary to provide livestock grazing services. The service provider will supply, utilize and care for a goat herd of adequate size to achieve the seasonal goal to reduce vegetation to an approximate height of four (4) inches, including shrubbery and brush, as feasible.
The Project area begins north of Gold Creek Estates, terminates at Silver Rapids Road, and is divided in three sections:
1. Gold Creek Estates to St. Andrews Road (8.5 acres adjacent to SR 26)
2. La Contenta Golf Course (2.25 acres, traverses the golf course and drainage behind driving range)
3. Vista Del Lago Drive to Silver Rapids Road (9.87 acres, residential area abutting property fencing)

All questions related to this RFP must be submitted through Public Purchase. The deadline for questions is Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The professional services agreement is tentatively scheduled to be awarded on September 24, 2024.

EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE: Mountain Ranch Road, between Sheep Ranch Road and Whiskey Slide Road. 🚧 The driving public should be advised that Mountain Ranch Road remains closed between Sheep Ranch Road and Whiskey Slide Road. Department of Public Works will provide an update when the road is reopened.

• Penn Mine Road (from Campo Seco Road to 4542 Penn Mine Road)- Partial road closure - traffic delays from 7/9/24 to 7/18/24. Full road closure - long traffic delays 7/22/24 to 7/25/24

Please note overnight utility work beginning at 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 535 Main Street in Murphys.
Calaveras County Department of Public Works intends to start the Annual Vegetation Removal Project along Cosgrove Creek, near Valley Springs. The project is scheduled to begin on June 10, and continue throughout the summer.
Calaveras County is working with CalFire to conduct the work this season. Entering the creek on-foot and using hand-tools such as weed-eaters and chainsaws, crews will clear vegetative material and debris in the riparian corridor along an approximate two-mile section of Cosgrove Creek, south of Valley Springs from Gold Creek Estates to Silver Rapids Road.
This section of the creek is bordered by State Route 26, traverses a golf course, and passes through populated neighborhoods.
This project will occur during normal business hours, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, weekdays.
Crews working with chain saws and other equipment will generate noise during daytime hours. We ask for your patience and that you exercise extra caution when workers are present. Thank you for your support of this important program.
