What are we doing to make a difference in this world! In a world of hate and division what is the one thing that unites us all together. It is the power and love of God through the Holy Eucharist. In a world of scientific fact and my ideas versus someone else's ideas we are left with empty promises from the world. But God promises eternal life after death. Getting into the kingdom of heaven is not just about being a good person but is more about your relationship with God. Doing good deeds is not the ticket to getting into the kingdom of heaven but more about your baptism through water and spirit, fulfilling your Holy Days Of Obligation by sitting at the table with God to receive Holy Communion, to be faithful to God in all that you do by seeking forgiveness through confession and to be aware and ready to observe the days we are asked to fast and abstain on and by doing God's will with in our local parish community whether that is donating your time, talent and skill or financially contributing to your parish community. These are the 5 commandments of the Church and it is by this way of living that will get us into the kingdom of Heaven. Good deeds become empty if we do not practice these commandments. We must love God above all things and with that we must also love our neighbor as we love ourselves. This includes the people you don't like. Including those with different ideologies and political ideas. Even the friend, family member who you have decided to cut off because you don't see eye to eye on an issue or idea. It is all about LOVE! Jesus calls us to Love even when it is difficult to for us to do.

¿Qué hacemos para cambiar el mundo? En un mundo de odio y división, ¿qué es lo que nos une a todos? Es el poder y el amor de Dios a través de la Sagrada Eucaristía. En un mundo de hechos científicos y de mis ideas contra las ideas de otros, nos quedamos con las promesas vacías del mundo. Pero Dios promete la vida eterna después de la muerte. Entrar en el reino de los cielos no consiste sólo en ser una buena persona, sino más bien en tu relación con Dios. Hacer buenas obras no es el billete para entrar en el reino de los cielos, sino más bien el bautismo en agua y espíritu, el cumplimiento de los Días Santos de Obligación sentándose a la mesa con Dios para recibir la Sagrada Comunión, ser fiel a Dios en todo lo que haces buscando el perdón a través de la confesión y ser consciente y estar preparado para observar los días en los que se nos pide ayunar y abstenernos, y haciendo la voluntad de Dios en nuestra comunidad parroquial local, ya sea donando tu tiempo, talento y habilidad o contribuyendo económicamente a tu comunidad parroquial. Estos son los 5 mandamientos de la Iglesia y es esta forma de vivir la que nos llevará al Reino de los Cielos. Las buenas acciones se vuelven vacías si no practicamos estos mandamientos. Debemos amar a Dios sobre todas las cosas y con eso también debemos amar a nuestro prójimo como a nosotros mismos. Esto incluye a las personas que no te agradan. Incluidos los que tienen ideologías e ideas políticas diferentes. Incluso el amigo, el miembro de la familia que usted ha decidido cortar porque usted no ve el ojo al ojo en una edición o una idea. Todo es cuestión de AMOR. Jesús nos llama a amar incluso cuando nos resulta difícil hacerlo.

Douglas Sulaica Arriaga, Age 70 born in San Antonio and a Parishioner of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. A visitation for Douglas will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers, 515 N Main Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78205 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A mass of the resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 9:00 AM at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 4603 St John's Way, San Antonio, TX 78212. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II. St. John The Evangelist Community invites the parish to share their love to the Arriaga Family. The Parish community is invited to mourn with the Arriaga family as we have just recently lost a good family man and parishioner in our community.
