From Father Chris
Dear Parishioners of Blessed Sacrament,
We are living in interesting and difficult times, as Charles Dickens said in A Tale of Two Cities, “it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” We have been faced with many challenges we never thought imaginable but are learning new ways to do things we once took for granted. One of the many things I took for granted was gathering with our community in faith every Sunday and weekday at Mass. As we have had to adjust to the continually changing policies of national, state and local organizations in our ability to gather as community, I have been faced with having to readjust what community meant in terms of faith and keeping our parish united in their faith and to know we are still here and God is with us!
We have been looking for the best way to deliver the Sunday and daily Masses to the Blessed Sacrament Community with what we have available to us. We began by Live-Streaming Sunday Masses through Facebook Live and had over 400 people actively participating. We understand that not everyone has Facebook and we are in the process of exploring other methods of livestreaming the masses. Livestreaming to me is important to maintain a semblance of community participation. These methods will change as we fine tune what works. We are regularly updating the parish website with information to help you find information as it comes out and changes, so please check regularly.
Thank you all for your faith and understanding as we try to navigate through these uncharted waters. I also wanted to thank those that have been able to give their weekly offering, whether it be through online giving or dropping it off at the parish office mail slot. It is appreciated and much needed in these difficult times. You can also ask for or offer your prayers online with the link provided on the parish website.
You all continue in mine and Fr. Inna’s prayers, for your health, safety and health.
As of today, March 25, 2020

-Sunday Mass, 9am English, 11am Spanish (Livestream & YouTube live - link on
parish website)
-Daily Mass (Livestream 8am M-F)
-Confessions by appointment
-Station of the Cross, Friday 7pm (Livestreamed)
-Holy Hour, Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Wednesday 6pm (Livestreamed)
On this Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, we ask Our Blessed Mother to watch over us, protect us and keep us safe and healthy!
In Christ,
Fr. Chris

IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE
Please be advised that with a decree from Archbishop Gustavo, the Sunday obligation (Saturday Vigil) is hereby dispensed for all Catholics effective immediately (March 14 – 15). This is in effect until March 31, at which time the Archbishop, through consultation with leadership, health officials and civil authorities, will make a determination regarding extending any of the above.

We will have our daily Masses as scheduled. Also, Adoration will be available from 7:00 am -9:00 pm in the church.

If there are funerals, we will minister to the family by offering the Mass of Resurrection.

School Closure: COVID-19 - Blessed Sacrament Catholic School 03/14/2020

School Closure: COVID-19 - Blessed Sacrament Catholic School Friends of Blessed Sacrament, Earlier this afternoon, I communicated with you the decision to extend Blessed Sacrament’s Spring Break through Friday, March 20, 2020. This was in response to the public health emergency declared by the City of San Antonio in response to the novel COVID-19 virus. Sin...

Friends of Blessed Sacrament,

I pray that each of you has enjoyed your Spring Break and that everyone in your immediate and extended family are safe! What a difference a week has made in our nation regarding the COVID-19!

I know there are many questions regarding the return of students on Monday. Unfortunately, we are in a "holding pattern" as we continue to monitor the decisions of K-12 schools within San Antonio and Bexar county. I would like to provide you with this updated information that has been placed on our school's website and social media accounts:

Blessed Sacrament Catholic School continues to closely monitor the developments concerning COVID-19 and is aware of recent developments affecting college and university students and those who have traveled internationally during spring break. Currently, as of March 12th, it is planned that classes will resume on March 16th . Fr. Chris and I are continuing to monitor the situation, working with the Department of Catholic Schools, North East ISD, and state agencies, and will follow their guidance. An update will be provided regarding the status of Blessed Sacrament Catholic School on Friday, March 13, 2020. (Update 3/12/20 at 8:00 p.m.)

Our Middle School students have been using Google Classroom and will use this method should we be asked to postpone classes. I am in the process of setting up accounts for students in Third Grade through Fifth Grade and will email parents once I have directions on how to set-up those accounts. I am working with Pre-Kindergarten 4 through 2nd Grade teachers in preparing work in the event of an unexpected temporary closure.

It is my prayer that our Lord, the Divine Physician, be with all health officials, emergency response personnel, doctors and nurses, and those affected by this virus. May our trust in Him never be shaken, but rather grow stronger in this time of need.

In Christ's peace and mercy,

Michael Fierro
Principal

Friends of Blessed Sacrament,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Mrs. Cavazos, our middle school math teacher. The family made the decision this evening to end support after learning she suffered a subarchnoid hemorrhage causing massive brain trauma. The family is very thankful for your prayers.

We will have counselors on campus tomorrow as we execute our crisis management plan. I will email you later this evening with details once I have left the hospital.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

+ Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and may your perpetual light shine up on her. May her soul rest in peace. Amen
