Thank you the Ms. Cantu, from our PTA, and to the parents that stepped up before the 8th grade Step UP ceremony to help decorate. Everything looked great and was a big hit with the families. 🚀

We want to wish our cafeteria manager a happy retirement on this her last lunch at McA. Mrs. Van Hecke has been a Rocket for 37 years and she had fed 10's of thousands and multiple generations of Rockets. Thanks for everything! 🚀

ICYMI: Mrs. Melody Banda, a 7th grade Math Teacher from McAuliffe Middle School, has been honored as the ASPIRE Classroom of the Month by Texas A&M University-San Antonio!

In a heartwarming surprise event last week , Dr. Vanessa Quiroga, Executive Director for Community Partnership at Texas A&M San Antonio, along with her team and Brennan Loy from Community First Health, celebrated Mrs. Banda's great work in the classroom. Joined by her family, students, and colleagues, Mrs. Banda received this recognition, thanks to a glowing nomination by Sam Hernandez who highlighted her dedication and exceptional teaching.

Alexandra Morales, our Academic Coordinator at McAuliffe Middle School, shared her admiration for Mrs. Banda:

"I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ms. Banda for the past 3 years. In those 3 years, I’ve watched her grow and challenge herself day after day. She is an inspiring teacher who develops meaningful connections and builds relationships with her students. Her genuine love and passion for education are evident in everything she does. She is a leader, a collaborator, and a lifelong learner. One thing that stands out to me about Ms. Banda is her drive and positive attitude. Her smile and productive energy light up a room. We are so proud that Ms. Banda is a McAuliffe Rocket and so proud of her accomplishments this year. Congratulations, Ms. Banda. You truly are an inspiration to our students."

Congratulations to Elias Martinez, Jr. ; he was recognized at the Annual FFA end of year ceremony. Elias has completed since 3rd grade & has won titles every year. Highlights were Lamb Breed Champion in 2020 & Champion Showmanship at the Bexar County Show.

Our 4x4 relay team brought home 4th place out of all the schools attending. So proud of this group, we know they'll do great things in high school. 🚀 🏃🏻‍♂️

HUGE shoutout to 8th grader, Jordan Garcia. He won the Gold Medal at the SA Big 21 Meet of Champions!!

Jordan also broke the school record in the 110 M Hurdles with a time of 16:45 and will have his name on the Track & Field record board! 🏃🏻‍♂️ 🚀

Tonight's GT Showcase was a huge success! The students worked very hard on their projects and were excited to show off their work! They did a great job! 🚀

Southwest ISD is hosting a job fair this Saturday, May 18, from 8-11. It will be on our campus and all applicants fill out an application online before attending. To complete an application or to see what jobs are available, go to: www.swisd.net/jobs.

Students that had perfect attendance from the last week in March to the end of April had the chance to attend Incredible Pizza as a reward. Looks like they all had a great time, even the teachers!

Ms. Herrera's Diversified Learning Class students stopped by The Tiendita to purchase items and have a little fun in the Game Room. Coming to school and earning Rocket Bucks really has its advantages.

Spurs Sports & Entertainment and San Antonio FC is holding a free soccer clinic for boys and girls ages 9-14. The SAFC Coaches and Players will provide fundamental soccer skills training, an autograph session with the SAFC players, and a ticket to the SAFC match. Sign up today!

Students from our gifted and talented program attend the GT Symposium held at ESC Region 20. They met and worked with students from around the city to hone their problem solving skills. They're working until the very end. 🚀

End of the Year RLA MAP testing is happening tomorrow. Please remind your students to rest up, eat a good breakfast, and work their hardest. We got this Rockets! 🚀
