Coleman’s Corner was established in 2022 by former NFL player Marcus Coleman and his wife, Lisa Coleman. While visiting underserved schools throughout the US, they noticed that participation in youth sports and daily activities has declined. Statistically, this can lead to health issues, but more importantly, remaining physically active promotes healthy growth and development. As a former NFL play

Today we pay tribute to Nick Louis Pena, a visionary young man who co-founded HYPE at the age of 19. Although Nick did not live to witness the realization of his dream, we celebrate his memory and his passion for empowering youth in our community.

Marcus Coleman is our head coach for camp week! He hails from Monroe, LA and later moved to Dallas, TX, where he attended Lake Highlands HS and received All-district and All-city honors before committing to Texas Tech University.
While at Texas Tech Marcus set the school and Southwest Conference record with 4 interception returns for touchdowns and school record for blocked kicks in a season. He finished his college career with 256 tackles, 9 interceptions, and 6 blocked kicks. Accolades he received at Texas Tech include: All-American honors, American Football Quarterly, American Football Coaches Association, named to the All-Time Texas Tech Football Team, inducted into the Texas Tech Hall of Fame and The Southwest Conference Hall of Fame.
After a successful collegiate career, Marcus was drafted in the 5th round by the New York Jets where he played for 6 seasons before being selected by the Houston Texans in the NFL Expansion Draft (5 seasons) and his final stop with the The Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed a successful NFL career that included a franchise record for interceptions (4th in the NFL) and 484 tackles, 25 interceptions, 119 passes defended, and 2 touchdowns over his time with the Jets, Texans and Cowboys.
To date, Marcus continues his passion for football through coaching in his current position with The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and previous positions with the IFL, CIF, and Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
