“Remember me?” Maymie Zanger born approximately April 2007. One of DDRTX permanent fosters, that is living the good life.

Maymie is under Hospice Care for Terminal Cancer. Donations for her care are always appreciated. Please read Maymie’s story.

My name is Maymie and I am a permanent foster. I have terminal cancer, I am deaf, and I only have one eye that partially works. If you think I let those things get me down though then think again!

I am one happy girl and I love every human I encounter. My favorite things are eating, napping, neck scratches and car rides. I also love chasing my tail and a good game of tug a war.

I am grateful DDRTX found me and promised to let me comfortably live out the rest of my days without a worry in the world.

Being deaf and mostly blind doesn’t stop this girl from living life! After being diagnosed with terminal cancer she was given a year to live. That was in 2017! She is spunky, loves to nap, and her favorite time of the day is snack time.

Hi, my name is Kai, and we need to talk.
I am a good kid, my foster mom told me so! I ave a dream to have my own home! You know one that has people that are my own people. My foster home is a great place and I love my foster brothers and sisters, but I can’t be here forever because there are other dogs that my foster mom could save if I could get my own home. Oh by the way, did I mention, I really want my own big bed to sleep in with my people cause what I do best is snuggle!!! I would love a stay at home mom or dad. And even maybe a home that had bigger kids like me that could play with me and give me a little part of your day. Maybe a retired or work from home person to keep company. I only have one request, please don’t make me stay in the kennel all day or even part of the day I’m scared of being confined in a cage. I just want to be like the family that I live with. Free in the house to give my people all my attention.

June Smiles looking for her home!!
Her full bio: Just look at what a beautiful 5 month old big baby! Her name is June Smiles. She got this name because she has such a happy face when she’s looking at you. We have determined that June is a mix. She has a beautiful dachshund like head but because of her markings and her build our vet believes she is part Bassett. That just makes her all the more special.

June loves playing with toys. She sleeps well overnight in the kennel. She is potty trained. She has learned to wait for her food bowl to be sit down rather than slapping it out of your hands. She is a hit at the vets office. Even the receptionist will come around and give her head pets. While she is still very much a puppy brain, she has learned to be more respectful to the older dogs in the house. The older dogs are more accepting of her even though she’s big and they do play with her even tug-of-war. June is not destructive inside the house. She does not bark at the chickens. Occasionally, she doesn’t like chewing on a stick.

The foster is discovering that June likes water. It’s possible she might make a great lake or boating dog.

June still needs reinforcement and help on her leash training but that is our newest focus and she is getting the idea.

Diana is home. Poor girl came in with a bad injury, had surgery done, had to go through heartworm treatment and then spayed. We are so happy for her. She deserves the best.

Skippy Lou had a little problem with weight when he came into rescue. His foster has been helping him with that. He’s even had a little bit of surgery to improve his ability to walk. That has healed. Skippy is doing much better now but his loving forever family will need to be willing to continue helping him lose weight so he has a long future.
