For this weeks we have the Roadrunner Battalion CSM! Here’s a few things about one of the programs most dedicated seniors:
Hello, my name is Jose Lopez, and I am from Riverside CA. I am a multidisciplinary
studies major with my 3 focuses being on business, military science, and Spanish. I joined ROTC because it teaches a lot about leadership, making decisions, and working as a team. This is useful in many careers, not just the military. I aim to explore the world, learn about different cultures,
and acquire new talents. A fun fact about me is that I love ketchup, but I hate tomatoes.
Last week the Roadrunner Battalion conducted their first super lab of Spring 2023. The MS1s, MS2s and, MS3s collaborated together to complete Platoon level attack missions. At the end of the lab several cadets were contracted and pledged to serve in the U.S. Army.
This weekend the Roadrunner Battalion conducted their annual Fall FTX. Our MS3s, MS2s, and MS1s were instructed on how to read, understand and brief operations orders. They then executed several platoon level missions, everyone was given the opportunity to lead as a Platoon Leader, Platoon Sergeant, or Squad Leader. During the training our MS4s conducted their first command post operations and ensured mission success. Several cadets were contracted following the FTX and took the honor and pledge to serve in the U.S Army. 🇺🇸
Last week during the Formula One races in Austin, Texas, several of our cadets volunteered in collaboration with Texas Veterans Security. These cadets sacrificed their time to help make this event a success. Texas Veterans Security graciously rewarded the Roadrunner Battalion with 3,000 dollars for the program. This was a great opportunity to support the community, and for our cadets to experience a once-in-a-lifetime event. Thank you to for the opportunity to help, the Roadrunner Battalion looks forward to helping in future events
Are you up for the challenge? The ranger challenge team and UTSA women’s basketball team conducted a joint exercise where they were both pushed to their limits. This was a chance to build camaraderie between both the Roadrunner Battalion and the women’s basketball team. Runners lead the way!!
This past weekend six UTSA ROTC Cadets left to Dallas, Texas for the Spartan Races. CDT Ocampo and her husband completed the 5K race. CDT Brewer, CDT Lopez, and CDT Burke completed the 21K (Half Marathon) race. CDT Kaley and CDT Ponce completed the 50K (Ultra Marathon) race. CDT Brewer, CDT Lopez, CDT Kaley, and CDT Ponce also completed a 5K race following their initial races.
Last week the Roadrunner Battalion conducted Super Lab 2. The MS3s rehearsed and walked through Squad Battle Drills in preparation for CST. The MS1s and MS2s conducted land navigation, TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) and learned how to operate ASIP radios. At the conclusion of lab, several cadets were contracted into the U.S. Army. These cadets have taken on the honor and duty to serve in the U.S. Army.
The Roadrunner Battalion held their annual mixer last week, this event encourages cadets to interact with other MS levels with games and food. This is also an opportunity where cadets can meet their cadre and cadet chain of command. Runners lead the way!
