Posted • For first time ever, Secretary-General invokes Article 99 of the UN Charter, urging the Security Council to help avert a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

“The international community has a responsibility to use all its influence to prevent further escalation and end this crisis,” he stated in the letter.

“I reiterate my appeal for a humanitarian ceasefire to be declared. This is urgent. The civilian population must be spared from greater harm.”

Butler said that the decision to take the site down was partially due to a lack of the funding required to "maintain credible information" on the site, but was also driven by a desire to clear the air about plastic recycling in general.

"There's more of an illusion of stuff getting recycled than there actually is because there is an imbalance in supply and demand," she said.

Posted • As the sun rose over Alcatraz during the Indigenous Peoples Thanksgiving Sunrise Gathering, Palestinian flags swayed at the heart of a 4,000-person circle. For nearly five decades, this ceremony has stood against Thanksgiving lore, promoting bonds between Native Americans and allies. This year, organizers, the International Indian Treaty Council, drew parallels between the violent removal of Native Americans and the ongoing Palestinian struggle, emphasizing unity and resistance.

Break the U&A addiction to oil and gas…..
break it!

What is sustainable for the next 3 years… 5 years? What about 10 years? How will life continue on a planet that is boiling, no water and climate disasters…. Stop now.
Earth needs healing…

Posted • The US is poised to extract more oil and gas than ever before in 2023, a year that is certain to be the hottest ever recorded.

The US’s status as the world’s leading oil and gas behemoth has only strengthened this year, even amid warnings from Joe Biden himself over the unfolding climate crisis, with the latest federal government forecast showing a record 12.9m barrels of crude oil, more than double what was produced a decade ago, will be extracted in 2023.

Gas production is also set to break records, driven by new export terminals on the Gulf of Mexico coast, resulting in a boom of US liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports within the next four years.

The US government expects this frenzy of oil and gas activity to continue at near-record levels right up to 2050, a point at which scientists say planet-heating emissions must be eliminated to avoid catastrophic climate breakdown.

At the Cop28 climate summit, starting in Dubai this week, the European Union and a cadre of “high ambition” countries that range from Kenya to Samoa will push for an agreed “phaseout” of fossil fuels.

António Guterres, secretary general of the UN, has called fossil fuel production the “poisonous root” of the climate crisis that should be dismantled.

Posted • Less than two weeks after we announced that we’re supporting legal action against Coca-Cola, Nestlé and Danone for misleading claims about plastic bottle recycling, PepsiCo has been sued by New York state for plastic pollution.

The heat is on for plastics-producing companies: litigation targeting the damage that plastic waste is causing to our health and our environment is stacking up, and investors need to better understand the risks that this poses.

Responsibility is everyone…. First up, fossil fuel industries, plastic manufacturers, fire retardants, and we, humans, are on the list. Now what?
Some Relatives are attempting to create a filter to get pfas out… filters would be a huge profit margin for green capitalists… it would not heal the water but it would take the forever chemicals out. Which country would be the first to solve… it’s not relevant but it’s an economic $$$ competition, not a humanitarian shared solution.
