Presenting ‘Found’ by my father, Alejandro Sifuentes.

This piece is a heartfelt echo of his earliest works, where he transformed found objects into profound art. ‘Found’ is a deeply personal creation, inspired by our recent reunion and the journey of self-discovery I’ve embarked upon. Every detail reflects the love and intricate layers of our bond, symbolizing the beauty of finding and embracing new facets of oneself.

‘Found’ by Alejandro Sifuentes, 2024, Pendant and brooch, Antique cameo, 22k yellow gold, reticulated silver, 3.5 inches x 4.25 inches, 18 inch paper clip chain.

We are happy to announce the newest addition to our Equinox Artist collection, Dongyi Wu! Having a deep connection to San Antonio and our gallery, we are very excited to represent such an esteemed artist and friend.

Dongyi Wu (she, her) was born and raised in China. She is a contemporary jewelry artist, who is currently working as an artist-in-residence at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN, USA. Dongyi received her Master's Degree in Metal and Jewelry Design from Rochester Institute of Technology in United States, and her Bachelor's Degree in Jewelry Art Design from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology in China, and her Dual Degree in Fashion and engineering from the same undergraduate school in China.

"I liken myself as a storyteller, who narrates stories that seem to be trivial and common but actually express strong and genuine emotions. For me, these stories feel like small but shining treasures forgotten by others. But, I, as a traveling person, as a junkman, as a storyteller, pick them up and transfer them into unique and refreshing wearable arts. I transfer personal experiences and intuitive feelings into images and then collect the information from the forms and colors of the images to transform them into jewelry work."

Dongyi has her works shown nationally and internationally, such as JOYA 2020 in Barcelona and Schmuck 2018 in Munich, and recently presented her sixth solo exhibition Shadows of the Daylight, Glimmer of the Nighttime at the Clamp Light Studios & Gallery, in San Antonio, TX. Dongyi was one of the winners of Preziosa Young 2020 in Italy, a finalist for the Lydon Emerging Artist Program (LEAP award) in the United States in 2019, and a finalist for the ENJOIA'T 2017 Contemporary Jewellery Award in Spain in 2017.

Come see her collection in person!

Reflections of a Daughter learning from her Father:

The privilege of working with our hands to craft pieces like this is not just about creating beauty, but also about sharing a piece of our soul with the world. Wrapped in silver threads of heritage, this piece isn’t just jewelry; it’s a tale woven from my father’s hands, a legacy of craft passed down through generations. Each delicate curve and intricate detail tells a story of dedication and love. Learning his artistry is not just about technique; it’s about embracing the spirit of tradition and carrying it forward, a bond that transcends time. Grateful for the privilege to learn and continue his artistic legacy

This ring is cast in Continuum Silver, a silver platinum alloy, oxidized in liver of sulfur to bring out a dark cast, a backdrop to 22k fused gold that frames a spray of .77 worth carats of bright, white, natural diamonds. An artifact of beauty.

Available on our website tonight at 7 PM CST.

We are thrilled to welcome San Antonio based artist to our Galleria collection, representing her first foray into metal sculpture. Her vibrant murals are celebrated across San Antonio, for their dynamic use of colors and vivid story telling.

Featured here is her work “Resiliencia”, an imposing 40 x 40 Agave. (Enamel Painted hot rolled steel, cold rolled steel) made in collaboration with renowned local fabricator . We love this work for its thoughtful composition but also for its use of light, casting shadows that draw us into the heart of Resiliencia.

Hailey’s work is a testament to the spirit of the Tejana woman, and the beauty and strength of the landscape that she embodies. While the native flora, such as the agave and the nopal, are enchanting and elegant, they are also incredibly tough and resilient, able to survive in harsh environments. Hailey’s art aims to capture these dualities resulting in artworks that are both delicate and fierce. Through her work, Hailey showcases the complexities and contradictions of her own identity, and the South Texas landscape and culture that has shaped it.

Pearl and Diamonds #4 by Alejandro Sifuentes

White South Sea Pearl with silver undertones, .50cttw natural white diamonds, set in Continuum silver with yellow gold fused texture.

Alejandro drew inspiration from the surfaces of the pearl itself, a continuation of his ongoing process to design and make pieces according to the materials in front of him. The contrast of the diamonds to the oxidized, organic surface mirror the rolling, fluid surface of the pearls.

We are so pleased to announce the addition of to our Galleria Collection. While we are primarily a jewelry gallery, we also represent an intimate group of Artists from other mediums. This allows us to make space for other art forms that align with our culture and vision for Sifuentes Metalsmith.

is the work San Antonio native Melina Lozano. She attributes her ceramic voice to her love of the desert and its fauna. Melina grew up alongside a giant agave that was planted outside her bedroom window, ultimately inspiring the name Agave Mu**to Clay. We love her work for its warm approach to functional pieces, creating art for every day.

From Melina “You can often find me swimming in Texas Springs and rivers, eating bean and cheese tacos from the Original Donut Shop on Fredericksburg road or having breakfast with Grandpa on Culebra.”

Sagrado Corazón by Alejandro Sifuentes

Iconography communicates the intersectional experiences of our family as makers. My father, Alejandro, was raised Catholic and has created a multifaceted sense of identity around symbols and their place in his work. The Sagrado Corazón (Sacred Heart) “expresses a vision shared between two cultures…the Sacred Heart functions as a religious icon and pop reproduction.” The gravitational pull we feel towards these symbols will always find its way in our work. We embrace it and have found a way to harmonize our identities and become A Sifuentes.

Every year we do a limited number of commissions. We choose our commissions based on the vision and connection with the client.

Bridal and engagement jewelry in general is such a fulfilling area of our work. The design process is always full of so much hopeful energy and excitement. The love is contagious, the union of the people coming together always overflows into the piece. This piece in particular came together as a celebration of love, shared passion and friendship. Alejandro says the finished product of a commission like this, is always a reflection of the love that is shared.

A special thank you to this couple for trusting us with their vision and allowing us to interpret it through our Sifuentes lens.

Platinum. Diamond.

Lately we have been enjoying the quiet and stillness that comes from living with more intention. Social media tends to be the antithesis of peace and we took a quiet step back in preparation for what is gearing up to be our busiest 4th quarter on record.

There have been many gifts from this summer of peace, including this beautiful portrait of our store front from our dear friend, Artist . She captured the romance of our building here in La Villita, we will treasure it always. Virginia Lukefahr is an accomplished painter and we love seeing the world through her eyes. Her love for the world is felt in every conversation and seen in every brush stroke. We thank her for this precious gift.

The story of a very special bracelet:

Every year we do a limited number of commissions. We choose our commissions based on the vision and connection with the client. Every piece always has a story but this one stands out for the uniqueness of the process and the journey.

This client brought to us several slabs of rock that her father in law had given to her. Her father in law, now passed away, had been a passionate rock hound and had given her this special collection of his favorites. When she brought them to us, they were uncut and unfinished. She had no asks except for us to use as much of the rock as possible and to make it into a bracelet. Alejandro spent months sitting with the rocks, trying to get an understanding of how to cut these very different stones in a cohesive manner. Here is the end result. A celebration of a life well lived and gifts freely given.

Silver and Stone are the vehicles for memory.
