During winter we nearly lost two grounds to hyperthermia. We really can’t handle greyhounds guys. This city is not for them. I promised them this was their last winter here. I expressed this to our friend and she got us in contact with !!!
Guys! They agreed to take all our greys and whippets. All 30 of them 😭 .
Starting with the first 16!!!
These guys already have dogs in China prepping to get to them in the UK. But they know how delicate these dogs are know Harbin is not for them.
Because they have their own 150 + dogs and shelter in China. We have agreed to cover all our SHS greys and whippets travel costs. And I’m sorry but it’s 100% worth it. We don’t have connections to greyhound people. No one ever applys to adopt. find the dogs the best homes in the UK.
So I’m leaving the valentines fundraiser up. The goal is to raise 16,000£ from now for all the greys and whippets to get to the UK……. 🥹. THEY 100% can’t stay in Harbin another winter. It’s too harsh on them. So if you want to sponsor a fat greyhound home please do. Donate to https://www.instagram.com/linking/fundraiser?fundraiser_id=3615017515406880&source_name=SHARE_LINK

Wonder why I’m on my last nerve. Just a normal day at the base. Dead or alive!?!?
ALiVE and yes, filthy because apparently Samoyeds like to bathe in coal mountains.
The Perry. Survives swine flu but acts like the snow is gonna kill him. 🙄
The girls
Soul mate.
Blue eyes is not a happy bunny about the weather getting warmer 😂
Today ♥️
I bet blue has some interesting stories to tell.
Wind is blowing in my main.
Red.
Finally a bit warmer to have the greys out.
3 more babies flying to Europe tonight. Bye guys ✌️ safe flight. ✈️
Hannah and GenGen made it to America this month 🥹. Amazing Flight Volunteers Chris and Sara got these guys home.
We have over 35 dogs planned this month to get home. And many more for 2024.
On January the 15th, we lost the two best boys. Rafael & Paul. Paul died from old age. He was senile but happy. We lost the most fabulous Rafael to kidney failure. We buried them together. Rafael had his paws around Paul.
I don’t have favorites. But Rafael was up there 🥺. Goodnight boys.
I have a major challenge and ask.
Because I haven’t been online (even though our medical debt thankfully) has been paid by an amazing donator. We are still in debt.
The last 3 months with me being off social media has put us into debt.
Monthlies have dropped significantly.
Monthly basic donations to cover safehouse daily runnings are the lowest they have ever, EVER been.
And it’s 100% my fault and I take full blame for it.
The safehouse costs now 55,000-60,000$ a month to run. Our monthlies ain’t even half of that and getting lower each day 😔.
We had a fire (which I’ll post over the next few days) at the base that ate a heating system.
Blizzards adding extra coal costs.
More rescues than ever eating non stop.
We have a massive outbreak of a new strain of cat corona virus going through our cats (I’ll update on that more as the days go by).
Safehouse medical team don’t have the money for medicine or equipment.
The list goes on and I’ll be posting in detail.
♥️ Valentines challenge ♥️
50,000 people to donate 4$ each in the next 4 days 🥰.
I’ll be live each day. Everyday. I will be posting in specific the debt that’s collected up over the last few months. The new rescues. EVERYTHING just like before.
We have over 30 dogs booked on planes for February and no real way to pay for it all.
4$ for Valentine’s Day 💘

Adoptions.
We do both private adoptions (directly with us) and with rescue partners.
Some of the adoption polices have changed.
Set Adoption Fee.
From 2024 onwards.
Private adopters - set price.
Partner rescue groups - set price.
Set price
USA - 800$ - 1000$
Euro - 750€
Pound - 650£ - 1000£
The 1000$£ are because of the bigger dogs. Our more curvy dogs plane tickets are costing more. So if the dog is over 35kgs you are looking at 1000$/1000£ BUT we are hoping to find a way to also bring this down.
We are just changing it from people paying the transport fees because they change so often. And in today’s economy it’s hard to make any financial plans.
This new adoption fee means SHS will lose some money but we hope it will work out.
Gonna give it a trial anyway.
Every cent covers the dogs travel expenses and then we will cover what’s left of it. Or you can also fundraise. So many options 😬.
So guys. Our volunteer program.
The plan for 2024 is.
March -> open
April -> open
May -> open
June -> open
July -> open
August -> closed
September -> open
October -> open
November -> closed
December -> closed
January -> closed
Reason we are closing tor those 3 months is legit because of the weather. This winter has been harsh this year. I also hope to have more of a balance with actually going HOME 🇮🇪 after 9 years. And January we plan to use as our prepping for the year ahead.
Please Email our volunteer program at
[email protected]
If you can be be a flight volunteer.
We need flight volunteers
from:
Shanghai -> JFK. L.A.X. San Fran.
Beijing -> is also an option.
Airlines: Asiana airlines. Korean airlines.
Air China.
Or
Shanghai -> Paris. Air France.
Beijing -> Paris. Air France.
If none of these destinations work and/or you can’t be a flight volunteer but still want to volunteer at the safehouse.
No problem. You can choose any route, airline you wish.
Visas.
Tourist visa:
China is going through some changes and granting visa free stays to some nationalities.
If you are American and got your visa before 2020. It is still valid.
The best thing to do is contact your local Chinese embassy and find out what applys to you.
More information is on our website (link in bio) about volunteering. Hotels and much more.
Excited to see you all.
Excited for the dogs to get some love and kisses.
We hope 🙏to be able to finish the cat base this spring which also means….. volunteers can stay at the cat base instead of hotels. Trying to make it as more adorable for everyone 🥹. We need YOU!
We have goats coming out of the walls. Think we are at 20 + goats. 🐐 the foxes are well. They are loving their new enclosure and the snow.
There’s just ALoT of updates I’m stressed already 😂
Remember who this is ? Doedoe. Shopping mall boy. He’s joined the pack now and he’s ready for adoption 🤗. He’s the sweetest little man. Omg pure love bug.
Then just before Christmas we had the biggest snow storm 🥹. Literally snow up to our eyeballs. Joan liked it though.
Taking us back to autumn. Tried a whole autumn/fall photo shoot……. One thing I did really enjoy the last few months. Was spending time with dogs not through my phone. Actually looking at them not just for pictures or videos. Don’t worry, mosquito still hates me. We didn’t bond.
Hey guys 🫣
I’m backkkkkkkkk.
Well, I wasn’t actually gone 😂
I was at the base everyday and night. As normal.
I’m pleased to be back on social media.
So many updates.
So many plans.
Get ready to be spammed with 3 months of updates.
I’ll be doing lives again everyday.
And BTW
Nothing has changed. SHS is not “professional” or turning into any “business style”.
It’s emotional. It’s funny. It’s a s**t show.
It’s raw. It’s head wrecking. Heartbreaking. It’s dramatic. And it’s not changing.
Until someone hands me a degree from a university that states they have studied how to rescue dogs from the meat trade…. I’ll carry on the way we are thanks 🥹.
Main goals this year are closing more restaurants. More educational programs. More shouting and way more fighting for the voiceless. And a few curse words thrown in for good measure.
Let’s see what 2024 has got to throw at us.
Calliope, rescued back in July ❤️

Look at this girl now... So much stronger

Some amazing news, a generous donor has agreed to cover our two currently outstanding November and December vet bills ❤️
That means our current vet debt (up to the end of a January 2024) will be paid off finally by March when the donation clears 😭
Thank you to everyone who has pooled together, sacrificed and gone without, all to enabled us to chip away at the bills. It means so much to us, but most... importantly the animals. You are the lifeblood of SHS.
Though we celebrate the amazing news, the Safehouse continues to need support, with so many lives and mouths still to feed. This year rent is also due again...(600,000rmb). As you may remember, we need to pay 3 years at a time due to the Chinese rental system, so we will massively need your help to secure this and sadly will be needing to ask for everyone's help again really soon ❤️
You'd think our big pups would be used to, and built for, Harbin's climate... but the look on Rachel's face suggests she's ready for a warmer life... 😅
Some amazing news... SAM IS ADOPTED!
After 4yrs... It's finally his time.
But, we need your help!
Our volunteer programme is reopening again 🎉
I know it's been quiet on our front for a while, but there's amazing things to come, and we want you to be a part of it.
