Happy Shark Week! I’m a little late with the annual shot this year but better late than never right?

Yes that shark is really there…swipe for the unedited shot 😂 That “shark” is practically family now and has affectionately been named “chunky shark” 😂

I’ll add the editing process to my stories in case you want to see how these are created!

Last sleep as a 6 year old, Miss Madeline Rose is 7 today.

They say the days are long and the years are short. I wish these days were longer. Madeline has become smitten with dance and between her hours in the studio every day and her hours at school I don’t get near enough time with her, and this is the good time. The time when she’s starting to become the amazing woman she’ll grow up to be, the time when she’s got so many questions and even more answers 😂🙈, the time when she’s like this whole little human that’s a complete joy to be around. And I pinch myself every day…then I pat myself on the back because I made that…well her dad helped 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

But it’s going too fast. I blinked and she has her first loose tooth, her first pair of shoes not from the toddler sizes. This week I asked her who she’ll marry when she grows up and for the first time she didn’t say “daddy”, she shrugged instead, and my heart broke just a little. Today we swapped out her castle playset for a little vanity I bought her years ago.

I’m so excited to meet the new person she’s becoming but I’m also holding tight to the amazing little human she’s growing out of before my eyes.

Shout out to for her lovey. Thank goodness we have a backup and these blankets are made to last. When she outgrows Blankie I’m pretty sure I’ll have it in my bed forever 🥰

I can’t say enough amazing things about the dance team Miss Madeline Rose is a part of. Many of them have danced together since they were two and their bond is so incredible. There are more kiddos than pictured here, veterans and new kiddos and they all mean the world to Madeline. I love them like they’re my own and the moms are like sisters to me.

There’s such a stigma around being a “dance mom” but I feel strongly that it is what we make of it…and our team chooses to make it pretty freaking awesome. I hope these kiddos stay this supportive and accepting of each other as they grow up and always feel their studio is a safe space 😍

These darling kiddos are what makes all these fun photoshoots possible! These kiddos were freezing in the cold and windy weather and were champs…never too cold for ice cream right?

I get tons of messages from parents asking if their kiddos can participate in these. The answer is Yes!! Absolutely!

What makes a session like this work so well is a group of kids that know each other, trust each other and most importantly can be themselves together. So when I do these personal projects I often grab the dance team my daughter is on. It’s a fun way for the kids to get together outside of their sport/hobby and have some fun!! I’m always open to your teams and groups for themed photoshoots!

The cutest little Ice Cream Pop Up Ever 🍦🍨

These darling dresses just dropped over at .maris.couture 🥰 It’s so fun to watch the kiddos get all dressed up and these tutu dresses are just the right amount of over the top. The girls literally transformed when they put them on, bouncing and twirling and giggling. They’re selling fast so make sure to grab one (or a whole rainbow!) before they're gone!

They say you can't know someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes. But just what kind of shoes are those? For this tiny dancer they're rain boots and "scouting boots" and Uggs. And of course those pink moon boots...which she won’t actually wear anymore but insisted on including because they represent “dance”🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
Also, note the accessory of choice this year…the oh so practical beret 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Jumping into 2022 😍

I’m baaacckkk!!! And finally getting to some photos of our New York trip last Christmas. When you travel with dancers like .jackman5678 you better believe there will be tulle in the suitcases and leaps in the streets 😍

Last Christmas post I swear…I think…maybe 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

But is it even Christmas if you didn’t make a gingerbread house? This year we took on a gingerbread mansion and it almost beat us. It started with some missing roof pieces (I’m looking at you ) that I carved replacements for out of another gingerbread kit we sacrificed. Adding fondant this year had me a little worried but Madeline LOVES fondant (eating it 🤮 and decorating with it) so she crushed that and then all the decorating ideas and most of the ex*****on is hers. I piped a little frosting here and there and made an adorable fondant snowman and the rest was all little missy. Next year I’ll have to find a bigger set to challenge us with!

Swipe for a guest appearance from dad. He opened a box of chocolates from in the mail and offered one to Maddie in the middle of being up to her arms in sugar…then they ate the rest of the box 😍😂

Side note, if it looks like most of our Christmas season happened on one day…it did. Christmas Eve in our house was VERY busy 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

“Mom! I’m going to wrap Dad’s gifts myself, you don’t have to help” which was all well and good until she got to the coffee cup she gives him each year 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Madeline adopted that adorable polar bear (promptly named “Zoey”) in while we were in New York and it hasn’t left her side since 😍

I’m over here still going through Christmas photos on NYE 🤷🏻‍♀️ But that seems appropriate seeing as we haven’t changed out of our Christmas pajamas in almost 2 weeks 🙈😂

I’m not sure how many years we have left of Santa and elves and the kind of christmas magic you feel when even your dollhouse is decorated for the holidays so I’ve decided to deck ALL the halls for as long as as she loves to participate.

Side note on her dress…she picked it to wear to the rockettes and hasn’t taken it off since. If you see her wearing it, ask her what it’s called and she will VERY excitedly tell you it’s the “Madeline dress” and will claim it was named after her…not entirely far fetched given the amazing handmade designers we’ve had the pleasure of working with but entirely untrue 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ don’t tell her otherwise 😘

I found the sweetest vintage Christmas dress back in July and basically forgot entirely about it until it was almost too late. Luckily it’s big and will fit her next year but she might not love it as much so I had to steal this opportunity😍

We just cracked open a bottle of wine to enjoy while we wrap. 🎁
Who am I kidding. Hard alcohol 🍸 is more like it and we fight like we’re getting divorced while arguing over having bought too many things to wrap 😂 But it’s the thought that counts right? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Eek!! Christmas is basically here and I haven’t posted any of our adorable Christmas photos…well or anything since Halloween for that matter 🤦🏻‍♀️ so here it comes…all of it. I hope y’all like Christmas photos well past New Years!

That’s a wrap witches. Halloween might be the most exhausting holiday. Madeline chose this dress for a witchy playdate last week but when we pulled up and she saw her friends in play clothes she insisted on taking off the dress and sticking with the accessories 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Fun fact: she chose that tiny witch hat (it’s part of a headband) from the dollar section at when she was 18 months old and has worn it in some capacity every Halloween since.

This is the first year Madeline has asked to be a character from TV, the first year she asked for family costumes, the first year she didn’t have a lot of rainbow and tulle involved in her costume 🤣

Madeline specifically requested a “haunted house” when we shot her Halloween photo so I apologize to whoever’s house that is for implying it’s haunted 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

She also insisted on having this red balloon and will be carrying it trick or treating tonight. I told her that’s more Pennywise than Wednesday Addams but she insists there’s a scene in so I went with it 😂

Another year, another corn maze photo. This has become one of the yearly traditions I treasure the most. We laugh, we kick mud, we try to cheat by peeking thru the walls, but ultimately she leads us through, usually on the first try.

When Miss Madeline Rose gave me an emphatic yes to this shoot for …in public…at our local fall festival, I was pretty surprised. And then the reality of being a complete spectacle in the middle of a very crowded place set in and she realized this wasn’t really her cup of tea 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ but Missy turned up and absolutely crushed it. Cutest little rainbow nutcracker/majorette I ever did see. And then she asked to keep the outfit 😂 We compromised and let her wear it to dance today for spirit week instead. Apologies to any kids that get knocked out by that tutu 🤷🏻‍♀️

She’s a whole vibe 😎

My tiny dancer turned 6…in June, when I took these photos. Then I never made time to edit them 🤦🏻‍♀️

I was about to start posting Halloween or other fun end of summer adventures when I realized I’d gotten so neglectful on here that these never made the cut and that’s just not ok, I know you were all holding your breath 😂

The annual balloon photo is something and I have such a fun time planning. She comes up with the theme, the outfit, the poses 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 and I get to tag along with a camera. I think we both knew there was no topping last year when she asked to “swim in cotton candy” so we went a much simpler route that’s still very true to her personality 🩰

This year she asked for a “garden ballerina” theme. She helped design this custom Leo by 😍, and absolutely insisted on having this tutu (which I hated the idea of but when it arrived and she put it on she was transformed so I’ll eat my words 🤷🏻‍♀️).

We did another secret garden shoot as well with the most beautiful florals and location so I’ll share some of those soon too!

Yes this happened. No they aren’t at all dangerous. Yes they’re that big (bigger even, in reality Madeline is closer to the camera than it looks and not as close to the whale shark 😯).

Dave and I traveled all over the world shark diving before we made that tiny mermaid. A decade ago we spent a week WAY off the grid in the Philippines on the hunt for whale sharks and saw nothing but dynamite fishing…from underwater 🤦🏻‍♀️ So swimming with whale sharks was a HUGE bucket list item to check off and the fact that Madeline did it too still blows my mind. At barely 6 years old she’s swam with dolphins, sea rays, turtles and now {whale} sharks.

She’s WAY cooler than I will ever be🧜🏻‍♀️ I’m raising the next 😂🙌🏻

Also, if this one doesn’t get to notice us then I give up 🤣
