It’s my second week back at work. I took a much needed break from work and social media over the holidays to focus on my family and health. I feel blessed to have a job where I witness growth and healing and am energized to meet with clients. Can’t believe it is half way through Jan 2021... we got this! 👍😊

It’s a known fact meditation has many benefits for improving mental health conditions likes anxiety and depression, increases attention, compassion, empathy, self awareness, and improves sleep.

With increasing COVID numbers, holiday stress, dealing with changes of social distancing and not being with family, I will admit it’s been a tough these last months. I am going to take on the challenge of meditating daily till the next year to start with a positive habit.

Hello, it’s been a while so thought I would introduce myself to new members! I’m Cecilia Gonzalez, LMFT in the San Fernando Valley. Who uses To Do list to stay organized? I know I do! It may be easy to forget your needs on your list. It’s important to plan self care or activities that bring you joy. Even if you are a parent, you have to be healthy to be able to take care of others. You aren’t selfish when you showing yourself love. ❤️

National Hispanic heritage month...Sept 15-Oct 15. However you choose to identify, Latinx, Hispanic, Latino, Chicano, take time to celebrate your culture. I am proud of being Latina and try to continue practicing my Mexican traditions every day. I love the food, music, love, and pride Latinx community has. It is my identity and I also love working with my Latinx community.

Fun fact- I use to dance folkorico in middle school and with UCLA folkorico where I met awesome friends. I absolutely miss performing and get so excited seeing folkorico shows. 😍

Next time your child is upset, try to think about the reason behind his or her behavior. Sometimes all kids need is love. By remaining calm, connecting, and helping your child calm down, you are teaching your child emotion regulation.

The mental health issues related to our quarantine and the pandemic are especially hard for people with depression. Financial challenges, loss of employment, isolation, living in constant fear and trying to keep yourself healthy mentally and physically. The 24hr National Su***de Hotline phone number is: 1(800) 273-8255 and 1(800) 662-4357 is the number for SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) a 24hr counseling service. Feeling overwhelmed with everything going on right now? Whether you are working from home or unemployed currently, whether you have lost a loved one or have extra responsibilities taking care of loved ones, stress and emotions build up in our bodies. It makes sense to feel anxious or stressed at this time.

How are you taking care of yourself? Meditation has always been my go to self care. I like to hear guided meditations in the morning to start off my day positively and at night to fall asleep. I’ve challenged myself this month to do it everyday. Hopefully I can add walks or runs to my week as well.

Covid 19 has changed our world. Social distancing means missing our friends and extended family AND it means spending more time with our immediate families, giving our kids more attention, learning a new skill or hobby, and having more time to witness their growth. I’ve heard my nieces and nephews have learned how to ride their bike, swim, and have been practicing their instruments! 👏My kids too have reached milestones (one learned to crawl and the other learned to potty train) and I’m happy I’ve been able to be MORE present for these moments.
