Design Tips: We wanted to share one of the ways we approach design in a smaller space. In this guest bathroom we used a soft neutral color palette to enhance the natural light. To add visual interest and break up the neutral tones, we incorporated textures, shapes, and patterns. Harmony and movement is found the textured vanity, marble veins, curved mirror, horizontal and geometric tile mix, and patterned wallpaper. See second photo for additional view.

Welcome to ‘behind the design’ as Sabah shares her top 5 tips for creating living rooms with purpose, comfort and visual distinction.
1. Consider function first. Define the activity of the room to determine the flow of traffic and create a natural pathway.
2. Choose the main focal point (fireplace, artwork, etc). Position the largest piece of furniture to face that visual.
3. Create balance. Distribute furnishings in a proportionate manner while also allowing for negative space.
4. Layer the lighting. Study how the natural light changes throughout the day; supplement those changes with lighting accents and task lamps. Dimmers and settings can also be used to adjust lighting preferences and needs.
5. Choose up to three colors for the main palette. Introduce variety through textures and contour.

We remember designing this bathroom. It’s in the most used corridor of the home and we knew it would likely be the first one the kids would go to after playing outdoors or being in the pool. It had to be a bit grown up and a bit playful, complimenting the unusual window. So we opted for black and white flooring, a marble sink and swirling pastel florals.

When it comes to barstools, finding the right fit is essential for both comfort and style. These 5 tips will guide you towards making the perfect choice:
1️⃣ Height: Measure from the floor to the top of the counter, then subtract 10-12 inches to ensure a comfortable fit.
2️⃣ Materials: Choose materials that complement your interior. From sleek metal frames to warm wooden finishes, select barstools that harmonize with your existing decor and overall ambiance.
3️⃣ Seating Comfort: Test the barstool’s seat and backrest for comfort. Consider options with padded seats and ergonomic support, for hours of relaxed dining and conversation.
4️⃣ Style: Explore various styles that work with the ambiance of your home. Barstools can be a statement piece, so select ones that add a touch of charm, enhances the room, or catches the eye.
5️⃣ Space-Saving Solutions: If space is a concern, opt for backless barstools with a slim seat so they can be tucked under the counter / bar when not in use.

Pizzazz. We had fun developing this marble sink and tile combination (with lovely brass accents) for the bathroom of a new build. While the sink is eye catching and anchors the color scheme, it certainly stands out on its own.

We like to incorporate the beauty of nature into our designs. We call it ‘bringing the outdoors in’ (aka ‘biophilic design’). While large windows, glass doors, and natural lighting is one way to connect with nature, we also like organic textures and shapes, as well as natural materials like wood, stone, and fibers for textiles. The calming effect of connecting with nature can also be achieved by representative materials and images (ie floral wallpaper). Scale can vary as well - a strategically set vase with a simple branch or flower, or the grand focal point of a room. Here are a few images that demonstrate elements of biophilic design.

Colors hold the power to shape emotions and atmosphere in our living spaces. We enjoy discovering the influence of harmonious color combinations - passionate reds, tranquil greens, cheerful yellows, serene blues, and much more. We work with clients on colors, prints and textures that reflect their personality and elevate their home.
In this gentleman’s home office, we created a calm and soothing palette that is uniquely his, yet fits seamlessly with the rest of the home. The textured grasscloth wallpaper and chocolate leather chairs add a layer of warmth and masculinity, bringing an earthiness to the pinks and blues in the rug and curtains.

We spotted this beautiful room with a warm hue cast in the natural light of day. Then, we started thinking about sharing interior design solutions for for brightening up a room, or bringing in a balance of light. See below. (image .collection via )
Lighting Solutions:
1. Layer Your Lighting: Instead of relying solely on one overhead light, incorporate a mix of sources. Combine ambient lighting, such as ceiling fixtures or chandeliers, with task lighting, like table lamps and reading lights, to create a balanced and functional space.
2. Play with Bulb Types: Different bulb types produce varying intensities of light. Opt for warm-toned bulbs for a cozy and inviting atmosphere in relaxing areas, or choose cooler-toned bulbs for vibrant, well-lit spaces.
3. Focus on Task Lighting: Position task lighting strategically in areas where you need focused illumination, like above kitchen counters, work desks, or reading nooks. It enhances functionality and reduces eye strain.
4. Use Dimmers: Incorporate dimmer switches to control the brightness. This allows you to adjust the lighting according to the time of day or mood, adding versatility to your space.
5. Highlight Artwork: Illuminate your artwork and decor with spotlights or picture lights. It adds depth to your space and draws attention to cherished pieces.

We like to help our clients create areas of serenity, whether a full room or a lovely little corner. In this master bedroom, we added grounding tones - a mix of stone hues and natural wood, and a place for the couple to sit by the fire and unwind.
We would love to design your home haven, a place where you naturally feel a sense of peace and comfort; where you can recharge and find solace.

When it comes to Interior Design, the debate between form versus function often arises. While some prioritize aesthetics and visual appeal, others emphasize practicality and usability. Personally, I believe that finding the perfect balance is the key to creating spaces that are both stunning and highly functional.

This is such a sweet bathroom-bedroom combo, created for a little girl who loves pink in all its hues. This project was a joy to work on!
I had many years of experience in textiles, fashion, and the creation of home decor items before branching into interior design. That journey fostered a deep passion for creating personalized spaces that tell my clients’ unique stories and reflect their own style. What began as a fascination for textures as a child evolved into a mission to design spaces that are functional and beautiful.
I would love to hear about a favorite detail in your home or any design idea close to your heart. Share it with me in the comments!

While we love a layered look, we are also drawn to the beauty of simplicity. The art of minimalism in a corner or smaller space can add to a sense of calm and sophistication throughout a home. And, as we see in the first photo, one doesn’t need to give up their sense of humor and whimsy while seeking simplicity. :)
