Today we celebrate the life and impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On the Board of the Bay Area Emerging Museum Professionals, we believe that Black lives matter. We uphold that arts and cultural institutions make our communities better, and that all people should have access to their services. We believe in the ability of soft power to change hearts and minds, and today we remember those values from Dr. King reflected in the work we do every day. Empathy, radical kindness, resiliency, and anti-racism all have a place in museums.
We believe that museums can be advocates for change and as emerging professionals we will set the foundation for the future of the sector we love.
Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!
