La Mediterranee Fillmore is facing possible eviction by our new landlords after 45 years in business!
Board of Supervisors President Aaron Peskin with be holding a press conference at our restaurant tomorrow, Monday August 26th at 10:30am. Please join us, and show your support for La Méditerranée. We want our landlords to negotiate a fair lease extension with us so we can continue serving our community.

It’s the San Francisco Magazine Arts Issue release event, co-hosted with Martin Lawrence Galleries in downtown SF, celebrating Takashi Murakami with over 50 of his works of art on display.

It will be a festive kick-off to the holiday season. The cocktails and wine will be a-flowin’ 🍷 , and there will be a delicious spread of hors d’Oeuvres provided by La Mediterranee Castro restaurant, thanks to (also of ).

And speaking of Speakeasy Studios, we’re really making this a family affair and will have live music by some of the fine Speakeasy labelmates:

Psyched to have Jacob Aranda and Sara Gallagher perform a few songs together for us!

And Andres Miguel Cervantes will be playing some songs, joined by Hall McCann & Jessie Leigh Smith 🎶

You may have seen that the Asian Art Museum has the Takashi Murakami exhibit open right now and his wild, psychedelic art has been promoted out on street banners around town, bus signs, ads, etc. There’s a big buzz going on right now for Murakami.

The exhibit, which is entitled, “Takashi Murakami: Unfamiliar People - Swelling of the Monsterized Human Ego”. He says his newest work is a response to the global pandemic, the isolation and the push to virtual interaction, social media and the swelling of egos. He’s quoted saying, “The increasingly digital landscape is populated by monsters - whether harmful or helpful - many of which humans have created and perhaps even become”.

This event is just a few days away so I hope you can come and make it a night out on the town!

The Martin Lawrence Gallery has over 50 of Murakami’s works of art on display. They also have original pieces by Picasso, Warhol, Salvador Dali, Keith Haring, Liechtenstein... so the gallery itself feels like a museum. Come party with us in the presence of all of this amazing art — and maybe we’ll stir up some spirits.

This weekend’s celebration and dedication of our Legacy Business plaque was truly something else! The Castro Street Fair was off the hook and we are just so grateful for our community and for our shared perseverance!
