Fall arrived at Kinderhaus which we are exploring through sensory play and creating fall trees.

Today is the last day of school! Kinderhaus will close for 4 weeks and reopen in August. We look forward to welcoming new friends after the break and keeping in touch with those off on their next adventure ☀️. Viel spaße!

What a lovely graduation ceremony this week celebrating the children who are off on new adventures, namely Kindergarten! How can that be possible? 🎓🩵🎈

Fußballzeit! Kinderhaus offers a wonderful soccer program. With the Silver Terrace soccer fields on site Kinderhaus has the unique opportunity to easily integrate a team sport into their play-based curriculum. And for the children it’s pure fun!

The new year has gotten off to a rainy start but that hasn’t stopped the fun! Kinderhaus kids suit up in waterproof gear and enjoy the puddles for some outdoor playtime.

Children were greeted this morning with house shoes filled with surprises from St. Nikolaus. What a magical and festive way to start the day!

The Kinderhaus children created a giant St. Nikolaus Day boot in anticipation of December 6, St. Nikolaus Day, commemorating the patron saint of children. The custom in Germany is for kids to put an actual boot outside their bedroom door for St. Nikolaus to fill with candy and treats to be discovered the following morning. The American tradition of stockings over the fireplace on Christmas Eve is rooted in the same history.

The Kinderhaus children made pumpkin soup on their last day of school ahead of Thanksgiving break. So much to be grateful for with this wonderful community!

Walking with Lanterns or Laternelaufen is a German tradition commemorating St. Martin's Day. The Kinderhaus kids made colorful lanterns and learned traditional songs for our annual Laternenfest parade this week. ✨

This fuzzy critter looks like a supersized version of the spiders in Kinderhaus' neighboring park. One of our talented teachers assembled the giant 🕷 and all the children pitched in to decorate!

Tweezing spiders and other critters out of todays sensory spider web 🕸️ was a hit and very seasonally appropriate too🕷️. Exercising the pincer grasp with engaging games is a great way to build fine motor skills. For our preschoolers it’s just pure fun!

We are a German language preschool but we love to honor cultural traditions from around the world.

This month the children have begun to work on the school’s colorful Día de los Mu***os altar, also called las ofrendas, which means “offerings” in Spanish to honor and celebrate the lives of those no longer with us.

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie that's amore! The Kinderhaus kids get all sorts of tactile play in the school's sensory bin. Dough was the texture of the day last week and they loved it!

Things are getting spooky 👻 and a little tickley at Kinderhaus this week! As we head toward Halloween the children are creating all sorts of seasonal art projects. Today's highlight was decorating footprint ghosts.
