Attention all activists, organizations, and scholars! September 1st is the last day to submit individual papers and panel proposals for our international virtual conference, which will be held on November 1 and 2, 2021.
The Master's in Migration Studies Program (MIMS) is currently inviting abstract submissions from scholars with interdisciplinary approaches to present research or work on migration-based issues. There is also an opportunity to propose a panel or be part of a panel with other organizations. We hope to center the powerful and amazing work of community-based organizations and immigrant rights activists.
Through keynote speakers, panel sessions, and roundtables, the conference aims to complicate our understandings of push and pull factors of migration, highlighting interventions utilizing human rights-based approaches and incorporating narratives that speak to the impact of migration on internally displaced communities.

Dont forget tomorrow is the last day to attend this amazing conference. Make sure to register!
Yesterday, on the first day of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities' Commitment to Justice in Jesuit Higher Education conference, Debra Mooney, Ph.D., Vice President for Mission and Identity at Xavier University, challenged attendees to find the courage to ask essential justice questions from a place of love, firmly grounded in the "grittiness of reality."
Earlier this week, during the second day of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities Commitment to Justice in Jesuit Higher Education conference, Fr. Tom Smolich, S.J., international director of Jesuit Refugee Service - JRS spoke about the call of Ignatian Spirituality to act and educate for justice.

Joan & Bob McGrath
Joan and Bob McGrath have donated $10 million to dramatically expand scholarships for USF’s Catholic school teaching programs, create a new multidisciplinary student leadership institute, and expand international student immersion opportunities.
More than half the gift, $6 million, will endow scholarships for graduate education students in a new McGrath Institute for Jesuit Catholic Education, which re-envisions USF’s Institute for Catholic Educational Leadership. The institute will recruit teachers, counselors, and administrators committed to working at under-resourced Catholic schools and provide them with scholarships while they pursue an advanced degree. Coursework will focus on contemporary Catholic school issues, including school consolidation, management styles, finance, and multicultural education.
“We’re passionate about our faith,” says Joan, a USF trustee who received her master's degree in theology from USF in 1969. “It’s what drives us to support Jesuit Catholic education and students at USF.“
Both Joan and Bob attended Catholic school from an early age and went on to earn degrees from Catholic universities. They’re committed to seeing Catholic schools succeed.
