Sangha reuniting at a beautiful Offering to the Spiritual Guide service, happening on the 10th and 25th day of very month.

We also got to celebrate:

1) the return of our much missed Gen Choma from teaching in Seattle directly after her Manjushri summer sojourn of festival and studies.

2) the weekend visit of Kadam Amy Peng (pictured here next to Gen Choma), the Resident Teacher at The Kadampa Buddhist Center in Palm Springs.

Our cup runneth over with blessings, gratitude and good fortune to be safely reunited and reenergized for an incredible September season ahead.

Gen Choma is back teaching on Tuesday nights—drop in to experience the wisdom and kindness of KMC SF’s 💎 of a teacher these past 13 years, and one of America’s first nuns to be ordained in the International Kadampa Buddhist Union tradition over 30 years ago.

Everyone welcome!

Come appreciate how great this human life is together at the reopening of KMC SF’s drop-in classes tomorrow, August 18th.

Scenes from the first week of Summer Festival 2024 where almost 3,000 people—including a dozen of us from KMC SF *💚—have gathered on the bucolic grounds of the Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Center in the UK to meditate and receive teachings together.

With thousands more joining in online from the around world, a truly global Sangha received the empowerment of Prajnaparamita and teachings on the Heart Sutra, the heart essence of Buddha’s perfection of wisdom teachings.

With time to rest, reflect and enjoying volunteering to serve one another, the two weeks near the Southern Lake District town of Ulverston truly look and feel like world peace in action.

Check out the for more detailed stories and posts to see what life is like here at summer festival!

*The latest addition is the adorable baby Marcus pictured here with our Resident Teacher, a beaming Gen Choma.

A whole lot of heartfelt and joyful connections were made at last weekend’s Real Connections in a Digital Age, Turning Loneliness into Love with Gen Kelsang Rigpa.

We’re grateful to Gen Rigpa for spending a few days with us and at Petaluma‘s for their Public Talk on Healing Anxiety. 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️🧘

We’re also thankful for Gen Choma, Kelsangs Rak-ma, Lamden and Labsum; our Sangha volunteers; and especially to all the new curious and thoughtful people who filled our precious temple and hearts on the most rainy of Saturday mornings. 🙏🏼❤️🤍🙏🏼❤️🤍🙏🏼

We had a great time getting to know one another over a delicious lunch courtesy of our kind Valencia Street neighbors, Restaurant Thanh Tam II. 🙏🏼❤️🤍🙏🏼❤️🤍

Hope to see you all soon at our next Talk at our new monthly series kicking off this Friday, 2/23 at 7:30pm with Gen Choma!

One of the great things about being both a meditation center and a Buddhist temple is in just one short weekend all kinds of events like our Kids Class, Prayers for World Peace and General Program classes can happen alongside a Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka Counting Retreat.

One hour a precocious child is artfully planting seeds of Karma and the next more senior practitioners are drawing closer to their chosen Spiritual Guide by deepening their concentration and peace of mind by counting mantras and meditating.

Thanks to the kindness of our Resident Teacher, Gen Choma, teaching an introductory session and practicing with us, the retreat was open to anyone curious enough to drop in and check out at their speed.

The same is true for all our on-going weekly GP classes, as well as our Foundation and Teacher Training Program classes resuming next week.

Everyone is welcome to audit those study programs twice for free to see if it’s a good fit.
Simply email Matt at [email protected] to audit FP or TTP.

And check out our site for all our GP classes, events, daily free prayers and drop in anytime.

Everyone welcome. Words to invite, words to live by.

Last sunday we taught kids about Karma and the importance of planting virtuous seeds in the garden of our mind!!

In this lighthearted and fun class, we use Buddha’s teachings to build inner strength and confidence by developing our good qualities. Each class will include a short meditation, a teaching, and activities to help children increase their positive minds of patience, respect for others, giving, and loving kindness.

APRENDE A MEDITAR DESDE CERO | Clases Presenciales | Domings 1-2 p.m

⏰🎉 OSG puja and party 7-9pm

📍❤️ 3324 17th Street

Today is Je Tsongkhapa Day, when we celebrate the life and works of the Founder of the New Kadampa Lineage. Je Tsongkhapa demonstrated the manner of being a qualified Spiritual Guide - a humble, sincere practitioner leading his disciples to correct spiritual paths and setting a pure example for others to follow.

All these remarkable qualities were also displayed by our contemporary Spiritual Guide, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, founder of the New Kadampa Tradition.

In place of our Wednesday evening Foundation Program class, students and teacher will be helping our Sangha and resident teacher Gen Choma create a beautiful Offering to the Spiritual Class to Guru Tsongkhapa to celebrate both Mahayana masters tonight at 7pm!

Everyone is welcome, bringing a vegetarian snack to share is encouraged but not required to enjoy the blessings and feast. Your presence is all the offering needed.

Anyone looking to learn more about our Foundation Program classes can ask questions tonight or at anytime ➡️
[email protected]. Auditing 2 free classes is a great way to see just how powerful getting a deeper, weekly study of Buddha’s Wisdom Teachings can be when it comes to solving today’s modern problems.
