COMM 695: Internship in Communication Studies falls under the Major Elective Breadth Area and is worth four units. Our three ZOOM class meetings will be on Wednesdays, June 5th, July 10th, and August 7th from 6:00pm to 8:30pm.
There are two pathways you can take in COMM 695
1) Participating in an Internship
Don’t have an internship yet, not to worry the deadline is Thursday, June 13th. If you need some support or guidance in finding an internship, just email me at [email protected] and we will set-up a time to check in.
2) Using an approved Job
Are you already working in a career path that are hoping to continue to pursue or test out? Then as long as you are working at least 20 hours a week, you can use a job as the internship component.

The Paul K. Longmore Institute on Disability is having a virtual panel “Building Disability Communities Online” on Friday, May 6th at 12 pm PT / 3 pm ET / 8 pm BT.
This event is part of the "Disability and (Under)representation" series, featuring panel topics that bring disability into neglected realms and celebrate disability as a creative and generative force when included. The event will host Sky Cubacub (creator of Rebirth Garments), Dev Ramsawakh (digital writer and storyteller), and DisabledEliza (disability content creator) for a panel discussion on intersectional online disability communities. They will discuss how the pandemic fostered a boom in online community-building for disabled folks, what it’s like to create disability justice spaces within a realm so rife with racism, homophobia, and ableism, and what online community means to them.
We hope to see you there. Register here: tinyurl.com/DisabOnline

It’s National Stress Awareness Month! What’s currently stressing you out and how does your mind-body deal with it? Everyone experiences and handles stress in their own ways and that’s okay, but why is identifying our stressors so important? By identifying our stressors, we are acknowledging that our stress is present and we can try to determine where it comes from. Identifying your stressors is a great place to start and helps us think of key self-care strategies and support our mental health! Check out the HPW Wellness Resources for more information.

To those who celebrate, we wish you a peaceful and joyous Ramadan!
Ramadan is a month-long holiday celebrated by Muslims to commemorate the month which Muhammad received the initial revelations of what became the Quran. For those who celebrate this holiday, it is a time to focus on their faith and perform generous acts. People who celebrate Ramadan must refrain from things like drinking, food, and immoral behavior between dusk and dawn. Once the sun sets, families meet for big meals that may include stew, rice, lentils, dates, and more. The end of Ramadan is then celebrated as “Eid Al-Fitr” or also known as “Feast of Fast-Breaking.”
