I offer compassionate and collaborative therapy for people struggling with severe and persistent mental illness at Family Service Agency of SF.
Check out this video about the new Trans Home SF transitional housing project! I'm proud to support the guiding team at St James and thrilled we are able to create new housing resources for trans community in this city.
2020 Trans Home SF Ribbon Cutting Ceremony St. James Infirmary opened the first adult transistional house in the country with Mayor London Breed.
I was interviewed last fall by Q***r Majority to talk about The Business of S*x and my role at St James Infirmary. I get into the nitty gritty about what I love and loathe about my job and why I followed the path to become a therapist. I'm proud to lead a team of fantastic therapists with, and for, our community of s*x workers in the Bay Area.

Tales of a q***r therapist: I processed pride plans with people for 16 hours this week. I love my job. Next week will be epic to get to hear all the stories!
Therapist pals & other client-based business babes- Annie Scheussler’s free trainings may be disappearing soon. These free trainings helped me get full in less than a year and my phone is ringing off the hook. They were fun, pushed my limits in ways I was scared to but now am confident enough to keep up with. Grab them while you can! https://coachingwithannie.com/free-training/
If you know me, you've probably heard me talk about the backpacking meditation retreats I go on every summer. This is the free app with endless recordings that gets me through the rest of the year.
Insight Timer Meditation Timer Home to more than 5,000,000 meditators, Insight Timer is rated as the top free meditation app on the Android and iOS stores.
A dear friend and fellow therapist told me about this podcast and its hitting the spot for me. Its about "the big questions of meaning — spiritual inquiry, science, social healing, and the arts. Each week a new discovery about the immensity of our lives."

Altars, Rituals, and Meditations for The Equinox- September 2018 With the sun’s entrance in to Libra on September 22nd at 6.55pm PT, we are ushered into a new season. I want to quote this entire article. From the stigmatizing medical system that borders on malpractice, to the intersectionality of food access, to the beautiful photos, this is a must-read.
Everything You Know About Obesity Is Wrong For decades, the medical community has ignored mountains of evidence to wage a cruel and futile war on fat people, poisoning public perception and ruining millions of lives. It's time for a new paradigm.
Some of my favorite self care must-tries are in here. I talk about fall but clearly from the photo I’m still hanging onto summer for dear life!
Ring in the New Moon this weekend with these 9 Self Care Tips | Home | Corrie Varga Therapy I am feeling the whisper of Fall on my back these days. It was dark when I woke up this morning. A lot of us are susceptible to the inner gloom of depression a...
A great article featuring my colleague and dear heart, Emily Adams. She's always been my go-to for questions about grief so its great to see her wisdom out in the world!
How to Cope With Grief Many wonder how to talk to someone who is going through a loss, how best to be supportive, and how to properly offer condolences. But when grief hits you, it’s not only painful, it’s extremely difficult to navigate through a range of new emotions.
New blog post up for all the students out there! (Or students of life). Feeling chronically over scheduled? You're not alone.

My gorgeous healing space has openings for a new subtenant!
SF Mission District, ActivSpace Building, near 18th & Folsom, close to BART.
Available days: Thursday all day, Fridays - Sundays all day, Monday until 3pm, Wednesday until 3pm.
I am looking for someone that wants at least 2 days.
Price: $200/day, $100 half-days (i.e. if you want it on Thursdays & Fridays, your total rent for the month is $400).
The space is approximately 100 square feet, best for seeing individuals and couples. There is a large window that opens, with views of Sutro Tower and great natural light. It is on a quiet hallway on the 3rd floor. The building has an elevator, shared waiting area and gender neutral restrooms on every floor. There is street parking with the option to sign a garage parking spot lease with the landlord. There is a tea bar and drinking water for sharing, with running water in the office. It is fully furnished, there is some room for you to bring belongings. It is a scent-light space, where smudge is sometimes burned.
I am moving suites within the building so the picture is not of the actual office, but gives you a sense of my style. My new space has a similar layout. The couch pictured is broken so I'm getting a new loveseat in the same color.
The Lava Mae bus is one of the smartest ideas to address the needs of our community, needs that our cities are blatantly ignoring. Go Lava Mae!
Lava Mae mobile shower service expands to Oakland | Hoodline The nonprofit also offers free showers to homeless residents in LA and SF.
As a q***r therapist in the Bay, I consider myself a small-town practitioner. I share beloved community with the folks I have the honor to work with in my practices. Its been tough to find good wisdom about holding dual roles when I live and work closely with those who want my medicine. This article cracked open everything I was taught about dual relationships. http://www.zurinstitute.com/dualrelationships.html

I've heard great things about this film coming to San Francisco in May! I work almost daily with people suffering from suicidality and it is my own lifetime battle as well.
Kevin Hines' Su***de: The Ripple Effect will be playing in San Francisco on Thursday, May 31st at Kabuki 8 Cinemas at 6:45. The film is part of a global mission to help reduce the number of su***des and su***de attempts around the world.

A friend sent me a photo of myself when I was a non-binary youth today that made me yearn for the idealized gender playground of this article. https://www.buzzfeed.com/shannonkeating/the-end-of-gender?bfsplash&utm_term=.dgwLBA9N0 #.xherAPZaO
What Would A Less Gendered World Really Look Like? Gender still matters. But how might our world change if we were all empowered to define it for ourselves?
I’m excited to lead a 4 week self-care group at St James Infirmary starting next week. There are still a few spots available and it’s totally FREE. Reach out to me at corrie.varga@stjamesinfirmary or 415-662-3342 if you or someone you know is interested!
I’m proud to have participated in a trailblazing culture of consent at Antioch College. It didn’t stop the violence I’ve received through the rest of my life but it gave me a foundation of respect and empowerment to recognize it and do something about it.

Did These Women See #MeToo Coming? In the 1990s, young women at Antioch College created the country’s first affirmative consent policy for s*x. They were publicly mocked; even “S.N.L.” weighed in. Here’s what they think now.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I’m curious to hear from other therapists who use social media groups as a form of connection and support.

I had the honor of offering a workshop on Understanding and Holding Grief for the incredible staff of TGI Justice Project (TGIJP) today. I'm constantly blown away by their never-ending compassion and determination in this work. I was deeply moved during the workshop by their perspectives, stories and reflections. If you're not already, this is an organization worth keeping an eye on. http://www.tgijp.org
I've been seeing a lot of requests in my feed lately for low-fee therapy. I put together this brief list along with a few tips for finding the therapist who works for you. This list is just SF for now and I'll be adding some of the amazing East Bay options soon!
Cheap (and good) therapy in San Francisco | Home | Corrie Varga Therapy | San Francisco I often hear the shock in people's voices when they find out how much full-fee therapy costs in the Bay Area. Like everything else these days, the cost for good...

From a harm reduction perspective, substance use is all about the relationship. The relationship between you and your fix. Some substances we have easy, friendly, good-for-us relationships. And others drive us to the dark night of the soul. When clients want to change their problematic substance relationships we almost always start by tracking them and being lovingly curious about them.
For me, the most problematic dependent relationship I have right now is with my phone.
This app called Moment is making a difference in how I manage my time, as silly as it is to need an app for that! Its a great - and free - tool that is changing the way I relate to this gadget in my hand.

Psyche and Eros: A Myth Revealing Psychological Dynamics of Love and Relationship – WNC Woman Magazine - By Marie O.
