This National Latine Physicians Day, we raise awareness on the shortage of Latine physicians and seek to inspire the next generation of Latine doctors to expand the diversity of our physicians with resources so that our community may receive the holistic care they deserve.

Treating the entire patient requires cultural competency for a level of care that is unmatched by doctors who reflect the heritage and demographic of the communities they serve.

This morning our San Jose Police Department shared that they have made multiple arrests for the smash and grab robbery that took place at Eastridge Mall in last month. Shortly after the robbery, I met with the small business owner who shared concerns about how the City can better support small businesses and I remain committed to uplifting our small businesses in San Jose who are the backbone of our local economy.

Thank you to our SJPD detectives who worked swiftly to investigate and identify suspects that connected this case to multiple other smash and grab robberies in the area including Valley Fair Mall and La Placita Shopping Center in San Jose.

Anyone with information, or victims of unreported incidents associated to these suspects, is asked to contact Detective Estantino #4339 of the San José Police Department's Robbery Unit at (408) 277-4166. Submit crime tips and remain anonymous by using the P3TIPS mobile app, calling the tip line at (408) 947-STOP, or on www.svcrimestoppers.org. If the information you submit leads to an arrest, you are eligible for a cash reward from the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers Program.

Thank you to the Nguyen family, our San Jose Police Department, and San Jose Police Foundation for their efforts to launch the Etch and Protect Program for catalytic converters in memory of our District 8 neighbor, The Nguyen. This program will be a critical tool in addition to my previous efforts to launch a PSA and awareness campaign with our Chief of Police on the rising trend of catalytic converter thefts.

Theft of catalytic converters has been a growing crime trend since the start of the pandemic throughout the City of San José. Catalytic converters are attached to the exhaust system of a vehicle that contain precious metals and can be “scrapped” for a quick profit. Please help eliminate the opportunity for these crimes and keep your catalytic converter from potential risk.

A great way to prevent catalytic converter theft is to engrave or etch the license plate or VIN number onto your catalytic converter. To learn more about how to register your vehicle and get etched visit: https://www.sjpd.org/.../catalytic-converter-etch-program

The San José Police Department in partnership with the San José Police Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the Etch and Protect Program for catalytic converters.
