Meet Charlotte Warner the newly appointed President of the Society of Women Engineers at San Jose State University. A mechanical engineering student with a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Charlie's journey began at Ohlone College before she embraced leadership here at SJSU's SWE chapter.

Her commitment to SWE stems from her desire to inspire young minds, regardless of gender or major, to pursue STEM careers. She champions diversity in engineering and welcomes all allies. As the former External Vice President, she forged valuable partnerships with companies, leveraging Silicon Valley's diversity initiatives.

Spearheading SWE's events for purposes of community building, outreach, and professional development, has proven pivotal in dismantling STEM-related gender stereotypes and promoting a culture of inclusivity that encourages young girls to explore the male-dominated field.

Despite challenges posed by a commuter student population, Charlie's vision for SWE at SJSU is clear: foster collaborations with diverse engineering student organizations, expand membership to embrace various engineering majors and connect students with job opportunities to start building their career paths.

Join us in congratulating Charlie on her new role and in supporting SWE's mission to promote diversity and excellence in engineering! 🚀🔬

Yun Freund, VP of Engineering at Google Cloud, shared an insight into life at Google and offered tips on how to intern at one of the world's largest tech companies. Her inspiring story of starting from humble beginnings in China with just $80 in her pocket and working her way up to a high-level executive role as an immigrant who barely spoke any English has motivated many students to believe in themselves. We extend our gratitude to Yun for speaking at the SVLS event this year.
Don't miss the next event on Thursday, September 28 at noon in the Engineering Building, room 285/287.

In remembrance of a tragic and pivotal moment in modern history that took place on September 11, a somber day on which we memorialize the victims, families, friends and others whose lives were changed forever on that day in 2001.

San Jose State has its own legacy from that day, Captain Jason Dahl, ‘80 Aeronautics Operations, piloted United Flight 93, which was brought down in a field in Pennsylvania. United Flight 93 was the only one that failed to reach its intended target.

Captain Jason Dahl attended San Jose State where he received the Vincent E. Morine Scholarship. While at SJSU, Jason studied Aeronautics Operations, graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science.

In 2002, the Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund was established to provide two deserving students with a scholarship grant in Jason’s name.

Campus is in full bloom, with vibrant flowers painting the landscape in a kaleidoscope of colors, creating a picturesque scene that delights the senses and uplifts the spirit.

Did you know the plants outside the engineering building are called Canna lily which is the only genus of flowering plants in the family Cannaceae? The plants have large foliage, so horticulturists have developed selected forms as large-flowered garden plants. Cannas are also used in agriculture as a source of starch for human and animal consumption.
