Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force - ACRATT's New Public PAGE ACRATT, the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force, is dedicated to vehicle theft prevention
Last year, ACRATT investigators recovered 1,327 stolen vehicles. So far this year, we have recovered 1,163.
Vehicle thieves don’t seem to be slowing down, so make sure you secure your vehicles, don’t leave them running unattended, and try to park in illuminated or secured areas to reduce the chances of being a victim of auto theft.
The last two weeks, ACRATT has conducted two operations in Oakland on the railroad tracks near the Coliseum.
ACRATT recovered approximately 50 stolen vehicles during the operations. Unfortunately, all of the vehicles were in various stages of being stripped and many of the vehicles were burned.
Last week, ACRATT was conducting probation compliance checks in San Leandro and Hayward. The checks were focused on individuals that were on probation for auto theft.
While enroute from one location to another in Hayward, ACRATT investigators observed an occupied stolen vehicle near a park on Tampa Ave.
Thanks to the assistance of our CHP partners, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Happy Holidays everyone! Enjoy your time with your family and stay safe!
Yesterday, ACRATT investigators conducted a search warrant at a business operating as a chop shop in East Oakland.
The search warrant resulted in the recovery of several stolen engines and transmissions, as well as various other components and two vehicles.
This is an ongoing investigation.
Be well everyone!
Yesterday, ACRATT investigators located and recovered this stolen Challenger Hellcat Redeye in Oakland less than an hour after receiving notification of its theft!

Today, members of the Alameda Police Department Property Crimes Unit drove around Alameda looking for potential victim vehicles of theft. Several flyers were left on those vehicles, reminding owners to properly secure their valuables and to lock their doors.
There has been an increase in automobile burglaries throughout Alameda, especially in shopping center parking lots and business districts. Please do not leave valuables in plain sight, even if you are only going to be away from your car for a short time. Make sure you roll up your windows and lock your doors. Contact the Alameda Police Department at (510) 337-8340 if you have any questions or need additional safety tips.

Hayward Police Department
One of our 86 year old Hayward citizens recently lost her husband and was having trouble maintaining her front yard landscaping. Community Policing Officers Runolfson and Dapice heard about the problem and decided to help her out. They contacted the Hayward Firefighters Local1909 for some tools and once the firefighters heard the reason, they sent two firehouses to assist in cleaning the yard as well. In a short time the officers and firefighters pulled the weeds, mowed the overgrown grass and cut back the shrubs. We were grateful we were able to spend time with one our residents.

ALERT: Your 2010 - 2015 Camaro SS is not safe. Crooks do not need your keys. The cars are usually found stripped of the engines and parts. We are again seeing a surge in Camaro thefts throughout the Bay Area. Over 350 thefts in the last few years. This is one of the reprogrammed Engine Control Modules used by thieves to steal these cars. Disabling the stock security and OnStar is the first thing they do. We RECOMMEND AFTERMARKET ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS such as ignition immobilizers, hidden GPS and full steering wheel locks at a minimum. If you've had a Camaro stolen, please share your experiences and tips below. You can leave anonymous tips regarding these thefts or media inquiries at our task force tip line at 510 516-2886.
