Did you know Simone Biles (Olympic gymnast) and Justin Timberlake (Singer-actor) are some of the many celebrities who speak openly about their challenges and successes navigating life with ADHD?

ADHD is a challenge, no doubt, but with nurture and practice, they can be strengths too!

Every person experiences ADHD a bit differently, so it may require some experimentation to figure out what works!

One idea to try: Set a timer for 10 minutes. Commit to working on a task for that amount of time. If you feel like you need a break after, take the break after. But if you don’t need the break, you may find you can do a little more than you expected!

Dealing with OCD is already challenging in itself, but adding the layer of shame and self-blame only doubles the pain.

Some may see practicing self-compassion as self-centered, but what if it’s just embracing the love, forgiveness and acceptance already given to us by God and others?

Fighting against intrusive thoughts is tiring, instead, embrace that it happens, and hold tightly to things you know are true! If you can’t remember, look up, look out and be reminded.

OCD is treatable! It takes time and hard work, but professional care can help you manage symptoms, improve quality of life, and increase self-compassion, so that you can show yourself kindness even when it’s hard to.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is more than just being a perfectionist or a neat freak. It is a vicious cycle of distress from obsessions, then relief from engaging in a compulsion. But treatment can be effective to manage symptoms and improve quality of life! More to come…
