Join us for worship on Sunday, July 28, at the 9:30 am for our Roofless Worship service on the patio under the redwoods. Pastor Cynthia continues her July series - One Good Word. The theme this week is ROOTS. Roots. Rooted and grounded in God's love and grace. Family trees with roots and branches. What are some of the biblical images of family trees and roots? How are we rooted in people we consider our chosen families? our church? our friends? How do we nourish our spiritual roots in challenging times?

Join us for worship on Sunday, July 14, at the 9:30 am for our Roofless Worship service on the patio under the redwoods. Pastor Cynthia continues her July series - One Good Word. The theme this week is THRESHOLD. A threshold is not a simple boundary; it is a frontier that divides two different territories, rhythms, and atmospheres. What threshold am I walking (perhaps running) through? What did I once cling to that now I am letting go of? What is letting go of me? What new path is opening before me? What is the life that longs to live in me? How is God guiding me in the midst of liminal time and place? What thresholds are before us as a community? a country? our world?

Bring hats and water. Chairs and umbrellas will be set up.

Guitarist Kai Smith will be sharing special music. Our pianists will be John Steiner and Owen Xu.

Each week there will be a one word theme. The theme this week is STRETCH. How do we stretch our bodies? our minds? our hearts? our faith? What are the biblical images of of God's outstretched hand of grace and restoration? What can we learn from the man who had a withered hand and Jesus offers healing and hope when he tells him, "Stretch out your hand"? As we navigate the many challenges in our lives and the world, what kind of stretching is needed? How do we do that together and be open to the Spirit?

What is this rest Christ offers?

Join us on June 23rd, at 8:30 am or 10:00 am for our worship services. Guest preacher Elaine Reichert will be offering a sermon - Lessons from Jezebel. This woman in the book of I Kings of the Hebrew scriptures has a horrible reputation. But what if this version of her story, handed down to us through the ages, is merely the one her enemies wanted us to believe? What if Jezebel was framed? Her confrontation with the prophet Elijah pits tolerance against righteousness, pragmatism against divine dictates, and liberalism against conservatism. There are lessons for us today in a polarized world.

Our guest musician is Jeanette Tietze who will be playing the organ and piano.

How can music move us to a deeper connection with the Holy One? How does the music in worship services - singing and instrumental - help us express our spiritual lives as we celebrate, lament and live as people following the ways of Jesus?

Our One World, One Spirit team is very excited to invite you to spend a day with Mark Yaconelli - the warmest, realest, truest “storycatcher” ever. As Mark says, “The soul speaks in stories, not in abstract ideas. Stories can access parts of ourselves and of others we didn’t know were there. There’s a whole landscape inside everyone just hoping for a listener who can ask the right questions.” Mark will show us how to deepen relationships and cultivate compassion through listening and telling our stories.
