Meet Arlene.

"My drive to help people came at a young age. It's always been fascinating to understand what motivates people and drives them to do what they do. I enjoy watching people change their lives and experience the many good things life has to offer."

Arlene was born and raised in San Marcos, Texas, and moved to North Idaho in 2002. She received her Master's in Social Work from Boise State University in 2015. She has been in Sandpoint for almost 19 years and feels strongly connected to this community.

Arlene's initial interests involved working with adolescents for over 15 years in inpatient and outpatient settings, including Wilderness Therapy and as a CBRS (community-based rehabilitation services) provider.

Today, as a counselor, she is grateful to be in the position of helping people of all ages. She works with individuals and families through life challenges, depression, anxiety, social struggles, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, trauma, severe, persistent mental disorders, and grief. She utilizes various therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and a solution-focused approach, plays therapy models, and encourages using a customized self-care plan. Her specialty is her compassion for helping people while using a combination of client-centered, strength-based, and holistic approaches with clients.

Arlene enjoys most activities outdoors, especially tennis, biking, pickleball, skiing, and being on the lake with family and friends.

Last month, the Leadership Sandpoint class got an overview of our community's law enforcement, local government, and the court system.

We met up with officials from BCSO, City of Sandpoint, Sandpoint PD, Selkirk Fire and Bonner County EMS. Some of the highlights included a jail tour, marine division tour, K9 demonstration, cold case study, and tour of Selkirk Fire & EMS.

Thank you for showing us how you keep our community safe!

If you are interested in this amazing opportunity to learn more about our community, non-profit board training and making a difference, please send us a message.

Share this with anyone you think would be interested or a great candidate. Applications are generally due in August.

We’ve been having a great time moving our flock of flamingos around town for a good cause.

The kids are absolutely loving it. If you are worried about getting Flocked, fret no longer. WE HAVE ANTI-FLOCKING insurance for $25.

Just click the link below to donate but also to learn about Unique Center for Athletes of all Needsand our Cinco De Mayo Block Party-Benefitting UCAN!

WHAT THE FLOCK’S GOING ON AROUND TOWN?

It is quite possible that you’ve seen our flock of flamingos floating around Sandpoint's front lawns.

Wondering what’s going on?

Leadership Sandpoint has chosen Unique Center for Athletes of all Needs as our non-profit fundraising recipient for 2023 and we are out flocking yards to raise money for a good cause.

Here’s how it works: By donating $50 to the link below you can request for just the right person's yard to be flocked (within city limits). All you have to do is take a screen grab of your email showing us you donated and message us here (FB) with your screen shot and the address you want the flock sent to.

If you’ve already been flocked, you can donate $50 to have your flock migrated to a new location or removed from your yard following the same steps. No need to move those little pink bundles of joy yourself, we have a night flocking crew hard at work.

And if you’re feeling nervous about getting a proper flocking, we have also provided anti-flocking insurance for just $25. Sign up for insurance at the same link and message us so there is no way that flock makes it to your yard.

https://sandpointchamber.org/events/cinco-de-mayo/

100% of flocking donations are going directly to Leadership Sandpoint fundraising efforts benefiting UCAN. By helping them, we are able to help out the greater area of Sandpoint. We live in an amazing place, with your help, we can keep the Sandpoint spirit of giving alive and moving forwards. If anyone can, UCAN!!!!!
