I have been thinking about over eating 🍔🌭🌮 and over spending 💸 recently.

Why do we do it?

I think it has a spiritual and mental/emotional root cause.

I believe we long for truth, for connection with the Divine, and for healing.

We feel stressed, anxious, lonely, overwhelmed, bored, embarrassed, ashamed, or any number of unpleasant emotions, and we want to feel better.

Eating something tasty or buying something new and shiny can give us a temporary respite from the pain, but ultimately are not best for us.

I think having a vision and a plan for our physical health and for our finances can help us overcome the “pleasure now” trap.

If there is some underlying trauma, we can seek professional help and spiritual healing.
