Explorer Post 517 provides the opportunity for young adults, ages 14-21, to gain an insight into Law Enforcement as a possible career field.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Program is a branch of the Seminole County Police Athletic League. Our goal is not only to provide an understanding of Law Enforcement, but also to look at the many segments of Law Enforcement as a possible profession. As a member of Explorer Post 517 you will have the opportunity to participate in community service activities throughout Seminole County as well as working with Deputies and other employees of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

Last night, the SCSO Explorers had the great opportunity to learn about a few of the different career paths that are offered within the Sheriff’s Office at last night’s Career Day!
In place of hosting their normal training, the Explorers spent their Thursday evening learning about different job opportunities in the Sheriff’s Office!

Squad Corporal Abigail Haslam was promoted to Squad Sergeant!
Youth Deputy Ben Bianco was promoted to Squad Corporal!
Haslam has been a strong leader with our Program and was our Senior experienced Corporal for many years!
Bianco has done a fantastic job as the Ride-A-Long Coordinator and has proven a great ability to learn!

Last night, members of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Honor Guard had the great honor of welcoming home some of our country’s veterans returning on the Honor Flight! The Explorers have done this many years ago, and are glad to be able to participate in this wonderful event once again!
Happy Spring Break from the SCSO Explorers! The Explorers have gotten a well deserved break this week and will be back at it again, next week! Hope everyone has a fun and safe spring break!
Who’s excited?!? The SCSO Explorer Color Guard & Drill Team will be hosting try-outs to join their team this Thursday after the weekly meeting! All current members are eligible to try-out! 2 team positions are open.

The Explorers have been training consistently and even took 1st Place in this year’s Winterfest Competition! With their hard work and dedication, the SCSO Explorers plan on continuing this 1st Place ranking at this year’s State Competition!

Did you know that SCSO Explorers age 16 and above are eligible to attend Ride-Alongs? Ride-A-Longs are an integral part of our Program where the Explorers are able to see Law Enforcement up-close and in action! There is nothing like being able to reinforce your Law Enforcement training than with seeing how it applies to real-life policing with first-hand experience.

The SCSO Explorers have made us proud once again, winning 1st Place in their Color Guard Competition at the BSA Winterfest Competition in Gatlinburg, Tennessee! The Explorer Color Guard and Drill Team have committed countless hours to training in preparation for this competition. We are so proud! Congratulations to the Team: Commander Cassidy Reale, Alternate Commander Logan King, Explorer Xavier Sumrall, Explorer Conrad Boland, and Explorer Hannah Parrish.

Retired Explorer Captain Rose Gardner graduated the Seminole State College Fire Academy today!
Although Rose chose to pursue a different career path, we are so very proud of her accomplishments and dedication to serving her community! Rose has always excelled in the medical aspect of law enforcement, so it came as no surprise when she told us she wanted to pursue a career as an EMT/Firefighter! 🔥🚒

Tonight, we celebrated the retirement of Youth Deputy Gabriel Riggins.
Youth Deputy Riggins has been with us since June of 2022. Riggins has an outstanding personality and has been a friend to every person and Explorer he meets.
During his time with our Program, Youth Deputy Riggins contributed greatly at our Community Service details and commit over 100 hours to Community Service program this year.
