Hanukkah is the winter "festival of lights," celebrated by nightly candle lighting, special blessings, and eating tasty foods. Holiday traditions and observance vary by different origins and sects of Judaism. It started yesterday, and ends on the evening of Friday, December 15, 2023. Happy Hanukkah!

Each year in the United States, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day honors all those who lost their lives when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. More than 3,500 Americans lost their lives or were wounded on that solemn day.

We're celebrating lots of anniversaries this month! Congratulations!

Our office proudly participates in the Seminole County Sheriff's Office Christmas Village Toy Drive every year. Many of the toys donated cater to the younger children, so our office focused on collecting gifts for the older kids. The toys help provide a brighter holiday for children in foster care, as well as for those who have faced abuse or neglect. Families attending the event are by invitation only.

Rosa Parks Day is celebrated in the U.S. on December 1st. She is most famous for her refusal to give up her seat on a bus she was commuting on. Her headstrong persona is an inspiration to all, and the day promotes civil rights, equal rights, and opportunities for all communities across the country.

National First Responders Day is this Saturday. These dedicated professionals answer the call when a crisis arises, often putting their own lives on the line.

Any real estate that is owned and used by a person who has a total and permanent disability as a result of an injury sustained in the line of duty while serving as a first responder in the State of Florida or during an operation in another state or country authorized by the State of Florida or a political subdivision of Florida is exempt from taxation if the first responder is a permanent resident of this state on January 1st of the year for which the exemption is being claimed.
